Zardari Takes on Iftikhar Chaudhary : Deja Vu

Asif Ali Zardari never liked the man, never wanted to restore him. He will be dearly missing his crony Abdul Hameed Dogar, as chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary revert back to his old habit of showing activism and doing popular things by taking a head on collision with the law makers and other institutions.
PPP government put a carbon tax on the petroleum products after getting it approved from the parliament,and Supreme Court suspended it. Now President has jumped into the arena and has issued an ordinance. Asif Ali Zardari who is the real man behind every thing has taken on Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary face to face, eyebrow to eyebrow.
The President of Pakistan has promulgated Petroleum Development Levy (Amendment) Ordinance 2009 by substituting the words “carbon surcharge” the words “petroleum levy” and it shall come into force at once. The petrol price will now be up by Rs10 per litre, diesel by Rs8 per litre, light speed diesel by Rs 3 per litre and HOBC by Rs 14 per litre. The president signed the ordinance after advice by the Prime Minister while their copies have been sent to Ministry of Petroleum and Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).
This is just the start.

Now allthe PPP stalwarts will start blasting CJP in talk shows. It surely is the relpay of Musharraf regime. But PPP should remember the end of Musharraf and his cronies.

Hassan, do you really believe what you are saying ??? Nobody elected Zardari. He hijacked the party. CJP was restored by the people, if you remember please just some months ago, when the legs of Zardari were trembling in Islamabad. PPP of Benazir Bhutto is a thing of past, and now its all about Zardari and his sycophants. Dont you try to force the crap down our throats. We have enough of these thugs.

Ch Iftikhar did his job.He again risked his career but this time establishment know very well that millions are on his back now.Now people should see the real face of zardari just a puppet of establishment who need his thumb impressions on brutal establishment decisions.
A bold blow on face of people’s govt rom our real CJP.Roti kapra makan sweet dreams of PPP voters are now becoming hankering desires of commons.Roti is becoming smaller and less weight, people are taking off clothes without any shame due to long periods of load sheddings, high bills and unmanageable house hold accounts would soon force people to go and opt living in caves or jungle.So PPP parliamentarians are proud of their policies as people are going back to their original life style close to nature.
Chaudry Justice Iftikar is clearly surpassing his jurisdiction and interfering in the administrative domain. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!

President Asif Ali Zardari, on the advice of Prime Minister signed PL ordinance which in no way is an attempt to suppress the Supreme Court orders. President Zardari by signing this ordinance has, on one hand, shown respect to the verdict of the Supreme Court and second, since he is bound to act on the advice of the Prime Minister, he has acted in a constitutional manner to respect the verdict of the Parliament.
Ayaz Amir has observed in The News that ‘a tax may be reasonable, bad or downright perverse. But the levying of it or the withdrawing of it is the prerogative of parliament and the executive authority. There can be a hundred opinions about the so-called carbon tax levied by the government in the present budget. But this was a tax approved by the National Assembly (unanimously or not is beside the point). Government and National Assembly can be pilloried for it. It can be denounced a hundred times over. But how does it become the business of the SC to pass any orders–interim or permanent–against it?’
I think some people want to have rift and tussle between President Zardari and Chief justice ; But this is only their fascination and imagination ; Remember It was president Zardari who restored ousted chief justice of Pakistan ; Pakistan is at critical juncture ; we are fighting the biggest ever war of anti terrorism ; If Taliban takeover Pakistan , criticizers of Zardari will be no more enjoying life ; taxes in 21st century war oriented world is not a surprise ; Zardari , Gilani and Shoukat Tareen have to run the country ; they have to meet expenses of 6th largest army of world fighting biggest ever war super imposed on it ; Zardari has to run the one of the biggest nuclear program ; Government has to support IDPs return ; development projects have to be completed ; Money is required ; fact are facts and remain facts ; IMF imposes its restrictions also ; investment in Pakistan is at its lowest owing to law and order ; Mr Zardari is dealing all this mess with wisdom ; Mr Zardari is not interfering in parliament issues or issues of Supreme court ; he is giving due respect to supreme court and chief justice ; supreme court restored Shehbaz shrif and made Nawaz shrif qualified ( the biggest political rivals of Zardari and PPP) but Mr. Zardari accepted the verdict ; supreme court has withheld tariff increase in electricity rates and Zardari and Gilani led government giving full honor to these court verdicts ; Even so called levy tax has also been challenged today in supreme court and PPP popular leadership to abide by law and court verdict
Ordinance on petroleum levy challenged in SC

ISLAMABAD: The Petroleum Development Levy Ordinance 2009 has been challenged in Supreme Court.
Chaudhry Ikram, the lawyer of PML-N secretary general Iqbal Zafar Jaghra has field a petition challenging the presidential ordinance stated that president have no right to impose tax under constitution article number 77.
A separate petition also filed pleading Supreme Court to issue stay order for the withdrawal of POL price hike to give masses interim relief.
According to Geo News correspondent Abdul Qayyum, the hearing of petition will likely started from Monday.
The president had signed the advice from Prime Minister to raise petroleum prices through president ordinance that restored the POL prices to July 7 position.

the important point to be noted is that why PML n jhagara like people raised and halted this issue in NA.same we have to ask to party who always claimed to be voice of oppressor or common that why commotion like that was not raised against high taxes on public in NA under their real domain.
Both parties are playing double games with people and PPP govt to by putting their actual responsibilities on shoulders of Ch Iftikhar.
We are really heading towards serious turmoil as govt wants to generate revenue from common people at all costs, in response people are seeing only and only CJP and mqm and PML are ready to ignite the issues between two state powers.
See with the change of ordinances how people’s representatives are changing their verdicts on govt stance.
a very alarming situation is coming ahead as people are not in mood of bearing this heavy taxes and long period load shedding any more as all are seeing the sumptuous way of governance of our rulers on daily basis .
The CJ is clearly interfering in parliament’s domain!
