Zardari is Pagal?

By Rohail Butt • Aug 27th, 2008 • Category: Politics • 3 Comments

New York Times, Financial Times, Daily Telegraph and host of other American and European papers and magazines are raising hell that nuclear Pakistan is going to have such a president next month who is diagnosed with a range of psychiatric illnesses, including dementia, major depressive disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder.

It goes without saying that the Pakistan People’s Party has no defense of the fact that their co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari broke his written and verbal accords with the PML-N many times over the issue of restoration of judges and it also goes without saying that the credibility and trust of Zardari has badly tarnished.

That goes without saying, but that doesn’t give any warrant to the foreign powers to mock Pakistan for that. They are trying to find another evil niche to make the nuclear assets of Pakistan suspicious and in their desperate bids to grasp the control of Pakistan’s nukes, they are even trying to malign their just replaced lackey. Zardari may be insane but he is not insane enough to compromise or misuse the nukes. Nuclear button is not some light button on his side table, which he would press during hallucinations or dementia, if that’s what he suffers from.

Pakistan’s defense and nuclear assets are safe and sound and are in the able hands.

  1. How can you Pakistani’s ever expect any respect for what you do when you try to justify the unjustifiable? Zardari is an unstable opportunist. You only have to listen to one of his interviews to realise that he’s not all there. He blows hot and cold. The Nukes have nothing to do with the politicians they belong the military so there’s point taking about Zardari and the Nukes in the same breath. I completely fail to understand why the senior (and sensible) members of the PPP aren’t expressing their views in public.

  2. S Ahmed,

    Very good questions.

    Here is a simple answer:

They have been bought and paid for.

    Regards

  3. folks what so ever PPP got maximum vote and all of us should respect this mandate, they have every right to elect the person of their choice to be a president, and in PPP Asif Zardari is very strong candidate. this is democracy that even if u don’t like his face his party got maximum votes and so the right to govern for five year. After five years we will get again the chance to judge their performance with our vote.
