Zardari-Dogar versus Nawaz-Shahbaz
By Ali Yar Khan • Feb 27th, 2009 • Category: Politics, Worth A Second Look • 11 CommentsWhat else you could expect from Zardari? The truth is that the man hasn’t yet believed that he has become the president of Pakistan, the country he so lavishly looted.
It’s also a blessing in disguise for the Nawaz Sharif and his brother and for their whole party. Their popularity graph is already soaring due to their principled politics and their stand for the judiciary and their anti-establishment politics. Their discouraging posture towards lotas and their sacrifices for democracy has wiped out many of their past blunders and only this huge impetus was needed to make them a real formidable force, and that is what they have become after the Zardari-Dogar decision.
It was all well planned. The script was written weeks ago after the announcement of lawyers about Dharna and the date of governor raj and Dogar-verdict was finalized when PML(N) decided to fully support the lawyers in long march and the sit-in in front of parliament and supreme court. Zardari already said that he would tackle the dharna and he has now rendered the Punjab government of PML(N) headless in his bid to quash the dharna and to disallow Punjab administration to facilitate the lawyers.
Nawaz Sharif has disclosed that at a lunch that Zardari hosted for Shahbaz recently the president offered a ‘business deal’ to the Sharif brothers “under which the Supreme Court will declare both Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif eligible for contesting elections but in return they will have to support the extension to Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar.” Nawaz Sharif has shown lots of maturity and sagacity and now its also commendable that he has appealed to his angry workers to not to create violent agitation and just record their protest vehemently.
The ultimate conclusion is that there is no more national reconciliation following this decision of Dogar court on direct orders from civilian dictator Asif Ali Zardari and now the country is back to the bloody and vendetta politics of nineties.

Get these (not so!) Sharifs also for murders of political opponents in the name of ‘police encounters’ the so called ‘extrajudicial’ killings of political workers and activists of other parties. Prosecute them and send them to gallows, if it was ok with Z.A. Bhutto then it’s okay now also. Pakistan will be better off without them. Let them go, force them out of public life.
Pakistanis, they are destroying Pakistan! Unite and equivocally shout – THEY ALL MUST GO – THEY ALL MUST GO – THEY ALL MUST GO – THEY ALL MUST GO!- THEY ALL MUST GO – THEY ALL MUST GO – THEY ALL MUST GO - THEY ALL MUST GO – THEY ALL MUST GO – THEY ALL MUST GO - They all must go, all these thieves and thugs all these gangsters: The Sharifs, The Zardaris, The Qazis, The Imran Khans (and his Talibans) The Chaudhry Shujat’s etc. etc. etc.etc. It is time for ‘popular uprising’ !
THEY ALL MUST GO – THEY ALL MUST GO – THEY ALL MUST GO – THEY ALL MUST GO!- THEY ALL MUST GO – THEY ALL MUST GO – THEY ALL MUST GO - THEY ALL MUST GO – THEY ALL MUST GO – THEY ALL MUST GO
Ali,
Boy you Pakistanis are so easy to change your mind. Earlier you guys were shouting that this same guy Nawaz Sharif is a person who looted Pakistan and also Benazir Bhutto and Zardari. Then you vote for them and elect them in to Parliament and now again you are shouting they are bad.
If you had known this that these guys are bad bloody why did you vote for them in first place. Were you guys wearing blinders or what? You guys have created this situation for your self and now you are dieing because of that. The Taliban mess that your intelligence agency created is now out of control and is eating your country only.
Wake up guys. Islam is good, it is a religion but you need to be a individual also not everything and anything can be done on the basis of religion. When you will learn this fact then you guys will understand what I am trying to say!

no body elected NRO group they were forced to land on Pakistan in spaceship called Benazir dead body.If they were elected by people they never confined themselves to presidential palaces, security zones and bomb proofs cars and took anti public decisions. These are sent on US mission that was upset owing to unpopularity of military dictator on mass level.Benazir immediately realized after landing that now the moods of people weren’t in favor of them as she opted by choice to live in luxurious exile as US was in mood of supporting military dictator in our region for smooth war on terror program. Her immediate inclination toward CH iftikhar and his restoration clearly indicated her political skills to read the ground realities as per requirement. Her last speech in front of CJP iftikhar chaudry is now become milestone of lawyers movement and big blow to ruling characters belong to PPP.
Shairf brothers also knew the reality of their unpopularity, therefore thy firstly took the shield of Lawyers movement to enter in field of politics, then they made their frontline of those people who are pure politicans of local and avoid alien intruders in politics.Shabiz shairf as usual made his good
repute thru good governance in Punjab culture and proved himself in good books for common man.
Both are following opposite directions to make their roots strong in this system. No doubt sharif has got an edge on zadrari and Co.This friction is very good for our path toward democracy as shake hand of both parties is very dangerous for national issues and public welfare.Let them to head on with each other, we have no other option to take out zardari and CO from our national assets as diamond is always cuts by diamond .In Pakistan we use coal to cut coals for getting political diamonds in our soil.
THEY ALL MUST GO – THEY ALL MUST GO – THEY ALL MUST GO – THEY ALL MUST GO!- THEY ALL MUST GO – THEY ALL MUST GO – THEY ALL MUST GO - THEY ALL MUST GO – THEY ALL MUST GO – THEY ALL MUST GO
Patience is required. Let the system prevail.
I agree with Nazia that Zardari and his closest cronies like Rahman Malik are un-elected people with a criminal history. Most of them beneficiaries of the NRO. There is a saying that if character is lost, everything is lost. Everyone in Pakistan knows about Zardari’s history. Pakistani courts can be biased, but the not the courts of Switzerland or UK, as these are free societies unlike ours’. These people were already convicted by foreign courts, and a large number of cases ares still pending against them. This is why they had to seek shelter under the umbrella of the notorious NRO.
Mr. Zardari and his associates, who have never been directly elected by the people, who looted and plundered our country in the past and against whom there is also substantial evidence in this regard are now absolved of all their past sins and wrongdoings, thanks to the NRO. Whereas the genuinely elected/popular leaders are declared ineligible for holding public office, by a puppet kangaroo court, on directives from Mr. Zardari, merely because these leaders stick to their principles on national issues and stand by the commitments they made to the people who elected them. Everyone knows that the Plane Hijacking Case on the basis of which these leaders have been disqualified was a farce. In contrast, the beneficiaries of the NRO have far serious cases of corruption against them. And what is Zardari’s character? He made committments to the nation, on TV and then backed out completely.
Of course Nawaz Sharif was no angel when he was in power, and there were instances of wrongdoing during Sharif’s time in power, such as victimization of opponents through the notorious Ehtesab Bureau, gagging of print media, especially the standoff with the Jang Group, but let us also remember that Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who was the greatest leader after Quaid-e-Azam, was also accused of such practices during his term in office. But Mian Sahab’s 7 years in exile have made him realize his wrongdoings and he has now turned into a more mature political leader.
There is not a single case of embezzlement or corruption against the Sharifs. The truth is that Nawaz Sharif is a leader whom the people trust, and who’s sincerety to the country cannot be doubted for a second. He is respected not only at national level but also internationally. After the martyrdom of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, Nawaz Sharif is the only leader on our national horizon, who has a vision for the prosperity of our country, our people. I’m afraid, the same can never be said about Mr. Zardari.
After all what was the crime of Mian Shahbaz Sharif for which he was disqualified? Is subsidizing bread for the poor a crime? Is the provision of free medicines to the poor a crime? Is selfless public service a crime? These are the questions which arise in the minds of the people of Punjab.
No doubt that the present government must complete its 5 year term, which is vital for democracy. But, the Pakistani people are not fool. They know who is standing by their committments and who is not. The people know well who the crooks are and who are the heroes. And Insha-Allah in the next elections, PML will emerge as the largest political power in the country.
one wonders when there was National reconciliation?, If BB was not killed, that would have a different ball game but Zardari is not illegible at all to lead the Nation even his own Party which BB never allowed him to do through out her life time.
correction: Nawaz very clearly said people had the right to angry, street violence to express their views and that he couldn’t stop them.
that’s just for setting the record straight.
will call for two quick points… for anyone with a broader understanding of world politics knows exactly how international heavyweights dictate domestic politics. had the Sharifs shown any of the maturity and sagacity that is being associated with them, they would’ve realized that this political chaos is exactly what was expected on the other side by those watching carefully. this was exactly the moment to have seized the opportunity for the stability of Pakistan. our history is fraught with extraordinary circumstances.. coups, murders and for the last decade, terrorism. desperate times call for desperate measures. we don’t have ideal leaders nor ideal circumstances. both call for extraordinaty patience, broader understanding and comprehesive accomodation with only one goal in mind - the survival and stability of Pakistan above all individuals, parties and politics.

“maturity” “sagacity” “being associated with” “Sharifs” - Good idea! No matter how sadly far from truth.
Remember, the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 1997 November and its then Chief Justice Syed Sajjad Ali Shah?
Remember, Najam Sethi?
Remember, Jang Group and Mir Jameel Ur Rehman and Nawaz Government?
Remember, Husain Haqqani ?
Remember, Governor Rule in Sindh ? (and its duration of 8 months while the constitution prohibits it beyond 6 months, remember?).
Rememeber, the conversation of Law Minister Khalid Anwer of Nawaz Government with Lahore Court’s Justice Qayum (demanding a decision against Benazir) ?
The above is far from desireable for anyone in any public office in any civilized country. Must we continue supporting such manipulators of our sentiments, such agitators. Do the people have any other rights in a democratic society such as clean water, three square meals, a job to earn a decent and honest living, access to some education? Or have we collectively forefeited all such human rights and allowed these gangsters to use us and manipulate us for their God forsaken agendas. Enough is enough - THEY ALL MUST GO!
Sharifs were punished for their uncondional support for Lawyers movement.
Its an open fact now that Sharifs wer only punished by the Zardari for their unconditonal support for the Lwerys . the political pundits sees this move as a last weapon by the PPP against Sharifs. Now the London Jugadhri has also joined him, both have one commonality i.e. how to loot Pakistan through their agents. One is doing the same business while in Pakistan and othe other is making his fortuned through his nazim and town nazimeens. the survival of MQM lies in Local Government system and zardari has supported them by not abolishing the system.IN all departments (local Government) in the name of development, projects have been completed at exorbitant costs, all these low quality fly overs and rodas , bridges and other water supply projects have been awarded to their favourites without bidding and due process by negotiating the bid prices, so haq parats have every right to loot this nationa for their foolishness.
