Zardari; A True Replacement of Musharraf

By Farid Masood • Sep 12th, 2008 • Category: Politics, Worth A Second Look • 11 Comments

Associated Press reported: A Thai court removed the prime minister Samak Sundaravej Tuesday for taking pay to host a TV cooking show. He is a chef and before becoming Premier he was doing a cooking show on TV. Elections last December were won by Thaksin’s allies in Samak’s new People’s Power Party, which then formed a coalition government with five other parties.

Hmm…! Such powerful courts really exist on this globe? Situation in Pakistan is inverted as a person decides that after becoming President of country from which Justice he has to take oath, that’s why the Judiciary issue has been hanging till now. Deposed CJP is not being re-instated tagged as he has become a party.

After taking oath, President Zardari took oath as President, he went to Presidency to receive guard of honor. An hour after it, President held a press conference with most hated personality (Afghani Musharraf) Mr Karzai. Upon some most relevant questions Ms Sheri Rehman interfered and no reply was given to journalists. Some most important issues like re-instatement of Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry as Chief Justice of Pakistan, resisting the missile and ground attacks from Afghanistan, missing persons etc.

To divert the attention of audience President Zardari told the media that Kashmir Issue shall be resolved in a month time, while its sure to spread over many months from now onwards. Resistance from struggling parties from occupied Kashmir is in the news against Zardari’s statements.

Before electing Zardari as President of Pakistan, a resolution was pass unanimously by all provincial assemblies and national assembly to resist ground and missile attacks from Afghanistan. After these resolution, prime minister must had come up with a statement to ask NATO and US forces in Afghanistan to stop such kind of stupid actions, and now its responsibility of newly elected President to say some hard words against such action. Amazingly, the chap Mr Rehman Malik, advisor to Prime Minister for internal affairs, gives statements every day against such invasion on western borders which is out of his jurisdiction. On the other hand Foreign Minister Mr Shah Mehmood Qureshi and other relevant dignitaries are keeping complete silence.

Its time for Mr Zardari to tell US of A to hold such childish acts of crossing international borders and they must remain within Afghanistan. President, being commander-in-chief must call all services chiefs and the Prime Minister to sit and work out solution as per nation’s will for such event in future. Zardari till such settlement must not visit America to address General Assembly to convey a strong message from the nation to US of A.

  1. People’s mandate. This is called democracy my dear. People of Pakistan will again choose him in some next elections indirectly through electing their favourite candidates in the elections.

  2. Mustafa, for your this “dear” democracy means only his desires must be fulfilled; what people vote for waht majority stands for does not matter. If his dreams don’t come true then it is not democracy, period !

  3. My only question is that ‘Is Zardari is better than Musharraf or not?’

  4. Better and worse is a matter of perception. In a democracy any one democratically elected has to be accepted and can, justifiably, claim to be people’s choice whereas Mr Pervez Musharraf could not make such claims even in the privacy of his own thoughts. It is too early to comment on quality of choice; only time and Mr Zardari will prove it.

  5. Mr. Aftab, the only the thing time will prove is your short-sightedness, lack of integrity in decision making and supreme idiocy.

Yours and the entire nations :)

  6. The Question is ” Is this nation wiser than before, or not ? ”
    simply say yes or no

  8. This article doesn’t have a head or a tail. Makes no sense at all. But then, why am i not surprised! :-).

Aftab Sb, i like your comments about this joker who writes and publishes his distorted, twisted and highly opinionated views as if he’s sitting in his drawing room discussing politics with his neighbour. Who’s the editor or owner of this site? Is this a free-for-all site or what?

  9. Anum, thanks for your comments; it is good to see that more and more smart people like yourself are taking interest and giving their time. Allow me to disagree with you a little. I happen to believe that we all have enough reason to appreciate the owners and managers of this forum to provide us the opportunity to be here and debate various issues of public interest. I have been, almost, regularly coming here and speaking my mind as frankly and candidly as I, possibily, can and, tell you what, without ever being ‘gagged’. It is as wonderful as it can get. I consider it valuable that we all, an ordinary person like me, and a ‘joker’ like the guy you are mad at and youself, can utilize this ‘public space’ for exchange of our views freely without any editting, moderating, and interference of any kind. I for one appreciate this opportunity and, purposefuly, avoid the main stream media which has so shamefully decided to become an instrument of false propagenda in the hands of those who we all detest for their feudalistic approach to all matters public. Let’s continue using TPS for positive interaction and useful discourse on politics and other matters of public interest.

    Great day!
