Yousuf Raza Gilani and Corruption
By Mohsin Sehgal • Jan 16th, 2010 • Category: Politics • One ResponseI have been hammering the fact in these pages that it’s ridiculous to even think that there are any rift between the president and the prime minister and it’s even more ridiculous to thinkt that the premier would ever stand in front of the flooding of corruption.
The fact of the matter is that the corruption mania is being protected by the head of the parliament.
How could Mr. Gilani stand against the corrupt elements? He will be dismissed atonce and he would never again get a chance to become Prime Minister. Like president, he has also got this slot by chance, and he would protect his seat at every cost.
It’s now clear that those who were exposed by media for corruption are running away from the country with full connivance of the regime. For instance, Sabin Sakina, accused director of Abbas Steel Mills and daughter of Riaz Laljee, a close friend of president Asif Ali Zardari, flew to the UK under official protocol provided at the Islamabad International Airport. Also the former naval chief has admitted that the president received kickbacks in the purchasing of submarines.
What a pity for the country. We are ruled by those people who say that morality and character are not the pre requisites for the politicians.

Unfortunately, each one of them has a personal motive rather than doing something for the country! Just recently we have wasted so much time talking and discussing why the Sharifs weren’t there whilst AAZ was visiting! what the hell! who is interested in all this?
