Now that the so called Constitutional Package is being revealed in media (in a piecemeal fashion). It was sad to see that this package would be another dreaded legislation just like the NRO we have had. Dreaded because one of its points seeks indemnity for the dreadful dictator’s acts of Pre Nov 3, 2007. Indemnity for the dictator!!! What the hell. Oh, I see. Now it is turn for Asif Ali Zardari to return the favor that Musharraf did to him by promulgating NRO. Well if this package has such points then it is obvious that Musharraf’s supporters in the Parliament will ratify it but what about the other issues this package was supposed to address? Things are now heading in way that one can judge what this package is about, specifically there is one point that says no judge would ever take oath twice as a Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. What’s the logic behind this point? This package was to rectify all the wrongs that were done in the past especially the wrongs done in 2007 by the establishment and Musharraf but is it any way near that idealogy? With Abdul Qayyum as our Attorney General and Farooq H. Naek our Law Minister it was pretty obvious that it is not for the relief of people but for the relief of Musharraf and establishment.
