Wondering About Displaced People

By Ghazala Khan • May 18th, 2009 • Category: Politics • 2 Comments

World’s largest internal dislocation is happening before eyes, while world’s largest display of state mismanagement and apathy is also scattered throughout the camps of the homeless people. The people who were, just weeks ago, had food, shelter, medicine, jobs and other colors of life though amidst fear, but now they are standing in the queues fighting to keep alive.

Whenever operation Rah-e-haq IV ends, what would become of these people? How many will return, and what they would do after returning? We know that our government hasn’t got any resources to rebuild the homes and other infrastructure for these people, so what would these people do after the operation ends? Will they ever return, or would they prefer to restart their lives in other parts of the country?

Many would return but the impacts and blows on their memories, minds, and psyche will remains with them. The children who have escaped with their families from Swat, Buner and Dir amidst the shelling, firing and blasts and now shockingly suffering through hunger and heat, what would become of thier future? Millions of children of this generation are going to become mentally ill and the burning question is that whether our state has even thought about these implications?

  1. Ghazala
Today heard the miseries of IDPs in haji camp of Peshwar.People are gathering here like ants of soil. The aide sent to these people are not crossing the first layer of human piles.Women volunteers even facing physical threats from hungry men as sickness and death rates among young kids are growing faster than we are thinking from here.Banks are emptied and giving no services to people, food shortages have become obvious in vicinity of Peshawar so there are visible chances of deadly riots or stamp pied like situation in these camps in coming days.

  2. very bad sitation and so shocking to read nazia comment. Even the ulema in Pakistan is now divided into 2 . One favor military solution-the barelvi and the other is against military solution-the deobandi.
this is a war against all of pakistan at the behest of America. America gives money in exchange for pakistani bloood.
