Women Can Bring Positive Change in Pakistan (Beard & Burqa won’t)!

By Overseas Blogger • Feb 23rd, 2012 • Category: Politics • 10 Comments

BBC declared the rally to be the largest congregation of women ever organised in the world.

Dwan editorial describes the rally as “SOME large political events have been organised recently at Karachi’s Bagh-i-Quaid, the ‘women’s rally’ staged by the MQM on Sunday is noteworthy…More striking, however, is the fact that the crowd of tens of thousands comprised mainly women…..”

The Express Tribune quoted as “The world’s largest women rally” and it’s article highlighted “In a country where women continue to be marginalised politically, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement put its best foot forward on Sunday by organising a mammoth all-women public rally themed ‘Empowered Women, Strong Pakistan’… The sea of women waving the traditional red, green and white flags indeed seemed larger than the crowd that had thronged Bagh-e-Jinnah to listen to Pakistan Thereek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan….”

Nasreen Jalil and other party members also claimed that it was the largest crowd ever assembled that sung a national anthem and that they intended to get it recorded in the Guiness Book of World Records.

Remarkably, this rally stark contrast to the events such as religious party protesting against Valentine’s Day in Karachi or Jamia Hafsa students laying siege to a library in Islamabad, where male leaders misuse women to implement their misguided concepts.

Promoting the education of women was a first step in moving beyond the constraints imposed by purdah. There is need to promote women’s groups and enhancing their capacity to effectively participate in electoral processes thus empowering women in the field of “Governance and Political” process.

It is stupid, cheap and vague to think that MQM forced half a million or more WOMEN to the ground with the help of guns.  Seems Karachites are no fools to be bullied by anyone (sarcasm intended). Indeed it stands testimony to the gross root organizational & communicational skills of the organizers irrespective of their political orientation.

Being its proximity to Difa-i-Pakistan, newly constituted party PTI should come out and spell clearly what is in their political agenda for women. Having an appetite for change, during next elections, Women should be extremely cautious while exercising their voting rights, to avoid being fall into a trap, thereby end up in Afghan-Taliban environment, with cease of voting rights.

Worth mentioning, (JI) Ameer’s recent call to “Bearded men and Burqa-clad women to change country’s fate” seems preposterous.

Women constitute half of the humanity. Collectively they have the potential to change the governing system towards positive direction. Women Can Bring Positive Change in Pakistan (Beard & Burqa won’t)!

  1. good writeup
    goodluck to women movements

Women can definitely bring positive change but bigots like you would take our society down! You need basic education just having a keyboard won’t make you a writer. Since when did showing skin become the litmus test for women’s freedom?

Your Western concept of liberalization is based on primitive societies where nvdity was used to subjugate women. Western women have tasted the bitter reality of their so called freedom so it’s not surprising they’re embracing Islam everyday. Check your facts and figures at least three out of four converts in America are women. And a lot of them enter as feminists. For those women wearing veil or burqa is far more emancipating than running around in skirts and bikinis.

””Worth mentioning, (JI) Ameer’s recent call to “Bearded men and Burqa-clad women to change country’s fate.””

Whats your faith? Keeping a beard is sunnah of Prophet (PBUH). The ritual of cleaning beard was started by British. Do you want to follow ritual of British?

””Promoting the education of women was a first step in moving beyond the constraints imposed by purdah. ”””

Wearing a veil does not stop women from educating herself. Obviously ignorant people like you have no clue on this subject.

Here’s a burqa clad educated woman taking your westernized liberal stooge to cleaners!!

””Women should be extremely cautious while exercising their voting rights, to avoid being fall into a trap, thereby end up in Afghan-Taliban environment, with cease of voting rights.””

Whats the status of women under Western Liberal parties like PPP??? Remember Baluchistan Minister who buried women alive is PPP’s Minister despite downsizing. Giving women right to vote but depriving them of the right to live.

””the Muttahida Qaumi Movement put its best foot forward on Sunday by organising a mammoth all-women public rally themed ‘Empowered Women, Strong Pakistan’…””

This women really is nothing but a gimmick just like Altaf’s rants against feudal lords. What about the rights of those poor female workers of MQM who were r@ped by Altaf??

  3. It is important to note that people are rejecting violent ideology and women are also playing a role to encourage the society towards peace.

  4. TBP — Addendum.

” ………….. What about the rights of those poor female workers of MQM who were r@ped by Altaf? there-after — in use of his respective — so called other BHAI Log.”

  5. MQM gets applaud

  7. There ought to be a hall of fame for mamas
Creation’s most unique and precious pearls
And heaven help us always to remember
That the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world

“Women Can Bring Positive Change in Pakistan” ——-yes, of course they can, and as a matter of fact, they already are. It’d be not only unfortunate but outright stupid to argue against development and empowerment of over half of our population. We already have a wealth of undervalued clever women and must make a point of hiring them and utilze their talents. The women over here with decent education and job training are just great they have their independant opinions and they can and do talk back and can be pretty direct (unusual for Pakistani men in job situation irrespective of their education, they usually become that traditional ‘Yes men’ and sycophant the “Chamchas”). Just look around and you can’t deny the truth of better educated mothers raising better citizens——I must refer us all to the following poem and see if we agree that :

    William Ross Wallace (1819-1881)

THE HAND THAT ROCKS THE CRADLE IS
THE HAND THAT RULES THE WORLD.

BLESSINGS on the hand of women!
Angels guard its strength and grace.
    In the palace, cottage, hovel,
    Oh, no matter where the place;
Would that never storms assailed it,
    Rainbows ever gently curled,
For the hand that rocks the cradle
Is the hand that rules the world.
    Infancy’s the tender fountain,
    Power may with beauty flow,
Mothers first to guide the streamlets,
    From them souls un-resting grow—
Grow on for the good or evil,
    Sunshine streamed or evil hurled,
For the hand that rocks the cradle
Is the hand that rules the world.
    Woman, how divine your mission,
    Here upon our natal sod;
Keep—oh, keep the young heart open
Always to the breath of God!
All true trophies of the ages
    Are from mother-love impearled,
For the hand that rocks the cradle
Is the hand that rules the world.
Blessings on the hand of women!
    Fathers, sons, and daughters cry,
And the sacred song is mingled
With the worship in the sky—
    Mingles where no tempest darkens,
    Rainbows evermore are hurled;
For the hand that rocks the cradle
Is the hand that rules the world.

  9. @5 troller no matter how hard you try to hide under new id’s, your mask slips off!

””gulf kings no beard, burqa baned France””

those west loving gulf kings must be your heroes!!

burqa banned in france means france society highly intolerant !! the more you open your beak the more you get exposed! better keep mum.

  10. What and where is your point?
The mention of use of force to gather woman amounts to “Chor ki darhi main tinka” as no one said that.
