Window of Opportunity for India and Pakistan

India has already gained a lot from the Mumbai terror attacks. Pakistan is playing on the backfoot, but India should be very careful, as it is playing with fire and if Pakistan is pushed to the wall, then things will backfire.
Pakistan should also learn many lessons from this episdoe. It should implement the charter of terrorism and work more closely and extensively with the world to eliminate the terrorism. Pakistan shouldn’t be acting in duress. India should stop bullying and should provide Pakistan every possible help to counter terrorism.
India’s approach was irrational from the onset. India started asking Pakistan to act before even it gave away the information dossier. Then they provided information and kept asking for action. Then they provided some proofs which couldn’t stand a day in any court and increased the pressure. They created such a hysteria that even the US officials asked Pakistan to act and even UN slapped a ban and Pakistan acted under duress.
But now as things are settling down, world is also watching through the smoke screen and they have admitted that Pakistani government and state is not involved in the Mumbai attacks and if some individuals or group has carried out the attacks, then Pakistani government is doing what it can do professinaly and now India must understand this.
This is the window of opportunity for both countries and they must not waste it. Instead of racing for the Obama attention against each other, they should be cooperating with each other to safeguard the interest of region which is here to say, even after Obama.

Whatever you have mentioned in the last para makes sense, but the rest of the article is same India is a bad boy and Pakistan is a good boy.
The attitude that one carries is the most important thing, Pakistani govt. carried the negative attitude and was in denial mode, even when things were showing the facts, the reporters from Dawn and other newspaper agency found out Kasab’s home, his voting registration, even his father openly accepted him as his son, still your govt. was in denial mode. The flip-flop on statements that your govt. did was wrong, if there are people involved from your country you need to act.
It is a known fact that Pakistani army and ISI has been supporting militants in Kashmir. Still your govt. is not acting on those people. Groups like LeT, JeM, and others are able to raise funds and get weapons in Pakistan, why is your govt. not able to do anything about that? People are being recruited from towns, villages, and other places why is your govt. not able to do anything over there?
Their are things that both the countries need to learn from this incident, India need to learn that just making noise is not good, it needs to be supported with facts as fast as possible, and Pakistan needs to learn that just denying and pushing things under carpet are not going to help. The banned organization JuD, has started its operations again under a different name, which shows lack of effort and enthusiasm from your govt. to act against these people.

If we both Pakistani and Indians look in broader vision then we will realize that key player in indo Pak tension is US factor, who no doubt controlling Pakistan military on driving seat for creating tensions in the region.Some underground forces in India backed by extremist politicians are also behaving like Pakistan army in that side .Major purhat discovery in Indian army is also clear indication of extremist forces in Indian army too.So in tit for tat dirty games we actually give monetary benefits to west and left hunger ,deprivation and aggression for our people.India has already conquered the world through media power and put herself in better position in democratic state so it should acted properly in ways of terrorism.This mumbai incident clearly reveals that US is bullying indians to act accordingly so that people and govt of Pakistan would become more dependent on army rule,The way Indians made good ties with a military dictator for last 5 years is also need to be discussed as same dictator had commenced kargil war resulting huge losses of top armymen in India.Indians for sake of democracy in neighbouring countries should had discouraged his and his cronies generals on friendly tours with India.But here again US factor played important role and govt of India warm heartdly welocmed that general who was the designer of Kargil war.
Really it is very disturbing to see the hatred comments for each other in such a liberal forum of TPS as we share same geographical boundaries, culture and social problems.On these common bases we have and we can create lot of windows of opportunities for common people of both countries.There is only need of will but aggressive comments from both side shows that this quality is still lacks in our literate class too .

Lt Col Purohit is an indication of the things that are bad in the Indian Army. True. Just 1 case in 60 years of India’s independence. You may compare the same stats with Pakistan’s rule over the years - drop a hat and the military appears on the bogey of Kashmir - Anti India them etc.
The result is for all to see - India is “shining” - though not that bright, for there is always room for improvement aka when you win the silver, you still lose the gold - & Pakistans is nowhere near the podium. Ergo, there is much more wrong with Pakistan than there is with India.
Both may have their own set of problems, but the problems of Pakistan are more to do in the cognitive domain - anti India, anti Hindu, Kashmir, anti USA et al & less with education, freedom of press, economic growth, etc.
Hence, it is better for Pakistan to put its own house in order. Start with cleaning the terror camps - official or unofficial, state or “non state” actors. They do exist in Pakistan. Not Mongolia. Norway.
Else the Frankenstein monster aka terrorism will do what it is best in doing - eat its creator.

There have been many such windows of opportunities in the past. You will recollect how your previous dictator, Musharraf, returned Vajpayee’s peace gestures with a backstab in Kargil.
No good will come to Pakistan, and most certainly India, as long as the Pakistani army is in charge of Pakistan. I would think that 61 years would be enough for Pakistanis to conclude thus. But go on. Blame India for all the ills of your own making.

As long as your army is Mercenary force of USA, peace will not come in subcontinent. I think Col Prohit also could be funded by elements in America.How the ATS of Mumbai found out about him just before Mumbai attacks is a mystery to me.Most of the south asian leadership are from either World bank or IMF..

that is my point again and again that why giant India cant talk directly to USA for all this mess.Our top army management and its intelligence agencies have been so much corroded by US management that we need strong democratic govt to revert its actual goals and duties and this is only to protect our borders only and work under civillian rule.There were lots of events in history when Indians could had an opportunity to challenge US policies in Pak India matters but govt of India always behaved like giant don in front of weak govts of Pakistan.
You people are only identifying one man in this horrible incident .Do you think after knowing the army setup in both countries that he was alone man in this circle for planning all this deadly mess.No sir , there is long chain behind him and that’s why kurkury was murdered by creating scene that can produce multiple affects and sentiments in volatile area of subcontinent.

The writer seems to be living in a world of illusion. What did he mean by saying India has benefitted from the Mumbai massacre episode.
What did he mean when he said India should be careful or things might backfire. If America’s firing its drone missisles on Pakistani territory what has India got to do with it.
I can’t take the writers intimidation seriously as he does not represent the Pakistani establishment but even if he did we welcome the backfire. Please go ahead and India will tear apart Pakistan.
I guess more than intimidation coming out of desperation the writer should rather think about America’s action within its territory.
Its time for Pakistan to evaluate and think seriously about stopping its aid and support to Terrorist organisations within its territory.

Fellow Indians, no point arguing with these mindless Pakis. They are in a denial mode and cannot simply believe that their country has gone to the dogs.
India is not a giant just to Pakistan but to the whole world. When in 1971, India helped the Bangladesh freedom fighters and was fighting wars with Pakistan in multiple fronts, the US deployed war ships to intimidate India. India did not blink a bit. So who is the giant here?
At the various WTO forums, India did not toe the US line and made its own independent decisions. If it was Pakistan, it would have shat in its pants and nodded to whatever US dictated.
Today India is truly a global power. With strong friendship with countries like Israel, Iran, USA, Russia, France etc, we have proved that we are a NATION to be reckoned with. Not a banana failed republic like Pakistan.
Pakistan and its people are always in a false sense of utopia that they are stronger and mightier, but a dog following an elephant always make more noise. All the elephant has to do is crush the dog with one single swipe! No noise here.
In fact, If not for the failed nation of Pakistan, the sub-continent would have been a peaceful and developed region. We would have had a Euro style system here co-existing peacefully with all our neighbors. India in fact already has a free movement of people from Nepal, Bhutan and free travel between Sri Lanka, Myanmar etc.
Pakistan is a thorn in humanity. They have been villains right from the inception of their failed country. But never mess with India. See what happened to your country. Split in half in 1971, now again split with the Fata under Taliban control. Soon there won’t be any Pakistan.
And in fact I was laughing when their President Zardari was pleading on TV that they are requesting the US to stop bombing their country and citizens! HAHAHA! A country which cannot protect its own citizens and can’t stop a different country to bomb it but instead is squirming and pleading with it, what is the use of such country! Shame on you. Die in shame you nation of terrorists.
Your country can’t take care of its own citizens, what the hell will you do with Kashmiris? They are at least living in peace now and if Pakistan stops meddling, the Army will leave Kashmir and they can regain their normal life. Pakistan which cannot provide safety to its own citizens wants another region! Pakistan is like a Virus which wants to spread all over. HAHAHA!

You fell off your tricycle one too many times, as a child. Pakistan is the epicentre of terrorism. Mere substitution of the word Pakistan with India is not going to fool world citizens anymore.
US deducts $ 55m from terror aid to Pakistan:

Can you prove one thing against RAW. Bloody that organization is not able to maintain internal matter what is going to do in Pakistan.
The war that you are talking about none of them were started by India, if you could see history all were started by Pakistan. And what are taking about Kashmir, Sindh, Fata, and Baluch, what has that do here.
Baluch has different problem, Fata is a problem for your govt. itself they could not manage it for last so many years and not it is in hands of Taliban, the 1948 war was started as Pakistan attacked Kashmir and it has nothing to do with India. Same is with Sindh.
Get your facts clear Raza, if you have some links show it to us here on this forum and let the people see.

luk at the facts : erstwhile USSR invades afghanistan 1979; USA comes in to counter USSR courtesy bipolar world, cold war etc; pak becomes frontline state in US’ war (not pak’s own war)against USSR; USSR leaves afghanistan 1988; USA leaves afghanistan (&pak) too 1988; ISI adopts mujahideen to fullfill its stated policy of “bleeding india through thousand cuts” in kashmir; kashmir boils 1989-96; taliban comes to power 1996; exporting terrorism becomes state policy of pak 1989-2001; 2001 - 9/11 happens; pak has 2 choices - “with US or against us”; musharraf takes the second choice; USA invades afghanistan 2001; taliban exterminated initially 2001 dec; ISI disowns Frankenstein it created 2002; and now 2007-08-09 taliban enters NWFP,FATA, Swat etc ie Frankenstein eats its creator.

one - address terrorist camps in pak;
two - adopt aggresive posture in economic growth, education, peverty eradication etc;
three - let india be - it has its own problems; why do u wannna be its adjudicator?
four - change ur attitude - be flexible not dogmatic n philistine;
five - try to modify islam to suit 21st century; dont live in islam as practised by mullahs aka interpreted by shariahs as per their needs,

Well, India should not cry now, if Pakistan is helping the Kashmiri militants. It was India who started with these tactics by helping terrorists and goons of Mukti bahini in East Pakistan.

Whatever you are saying is part of history, we need to look at the current situation in hand. India and Pakistan both have committed too many mistakes. But can you do something to change it now?
We both have suffered a lot and been through a lot. Now is the time to come together and build a future for betterment of the generations that are going to come. We can change things, it will not show results in a day or two but it will show.
