Why Safe Passage For Musharraf?

By Salman Mugsi • Aug 18th, 2008 • Category: Politics • One Response

After passing of no-confidence motion in all the provincial assemblies of Pakistan, only a person like Musharraf could remain stuck to the lever of rule, which is nonetheless is slipping from his hand steadily. The coalition partners are adopting a constitutional way to eliminate Pervez Musharraf, but still even before that there is no moral and ethical reason for Musharraf to hang on to the power, he grabbed and sustained illegally years ago.

The charge-sheet against Musharraf is all about constitutional violations like military coup against the elected government of Nawaz Sharif in 1999, suspension of the Constitution twice, twice attack on the judiciary, first on March 9, 2007 and secondly on Nov 3, 2007, refusal to the constitutional requirement of annual address to parliament, awarding the NFC to the provinces without consulting them, and military operation in Balochistan with pertinent reference to target assassination of Nawab Akbar Bugti.

All this nonsense about the free passage is akin to sprinkling salt on the open wounds of the nation. People whose kins have died in the operations in Balochistan, FATA and Swat demand justice and they demand Musharraf to be presented in front of justice. Why he be given safe passage? He should be tried publicly.

  1. CRY ME A RIVER — please… Ganja Sharif and Choor Zardari are worse… it is ironical that they are acting and being deemed all holy, whereas they are the true enemies of our motherland. Could this author be any more biased! Journalism is supposed to be impartial and rational, which I find to be lacking in the Pakistani Spectator!!
