Who Will Reduce Edible Oil Prices

By Farid Masood • Dec 28th, 2008 • Category: Misc • 2 Comments

Maximum proportion of edible oil is imported in Pakistan. All manufacturers of Ghee / Oils use it as a base. The prices in Pakistan was initially @ Rs 60 or 65 per litter / Kg. When prices of edible oil increased upto USD 1340 per ton the prices of ghee and oil in Pakistan went upto Rs 155 per KG / Liter.

The impact of reduction of petroleum prices can be witnessed due to reduction in freight charges. Now current rates of edible oil have been reduced to USD 350 per ton reducing about 70% but reduction of finished products in Pakistan has been witnessed only by 10%. The actual prices of Ghee / Oil should have been around Rs 50~60 per Kg / Liter.

Who will reduce the prices of Ghee and Oil in Pakistan so that consumer doesn’t have to give away his hard earned money just for nothing. Alongwith electrical jerks of huge billing, no body is going to reduce economic pressures from the consumer. Who will do it? In this case writ of the government is not challenged?
