What Yousuf Has Brought From America
By Sameer Shaharyar • Jul 31st, 2008 • Category: Politics, Worth A Second Look • 7 CommentsOn the South Lawn, Bush praised Pakistan as “a strong ally and a vibrant democracy” and expressed appreciation for “the prime minister’s strong words against the extremists and terrorists.” While Pakistani premier was standing their like a statue, finding it difficult to handle his English, and his demeanor, and it was extremely difficult for him to stop cringing in front of the master Bush.
Both Bush and Gilani were appeared very eager to show that they both have liked each other to no bounds, and would like to cooperate come hellfire or come brimstone or high waters. And that happened only hours after a American missile strike destroyed what American and Pakistani officials described as a militant outpost in the region, killing at least six people. But our premier never minded it and didn’t utter a word about it, let alone protesting with the Uncle Sam over this violation of the sovereignty of his country.
Thomas Schweich, a former top Bush counter-narcotics official focused on Afghanistan, in New York Times has aptly said that:
“Karzai was playing us like a fiddle: The U.S. would spend billions of dollars on infrastructure improvement; the U.S. and its allies would fight the Taliban; Karzai’s friends could get rich off the drug trade; he could blame the West for his problems; and in 2009, he would be elected to a new term.”
That where the problem lies for the Americans. They are following a very faulted strategy in combating the war on terror in both Iraq and Afghanistan. They support the dictators to gain short term benefits to appease their taxpayers, and when the problems remains where it is, then they start bellowing and threatening their lackeys.
That is what has happened to our premier Yousuf Raza Gilani. Though in this case, our poor premier even didn’t has any history of receiving US support, because he never was in his career achieved any significant position of power-wielding, and without enjoying any of the US blessings, he only got scolded by Bush for not doing more. Though he meekly tried to ask for more so that he could more, the US officials were showing him their books of the last seven years of aids and donations.
Instead of twisting the arms of novice democracy in Islamabad, the American administration must come forward with novel notions of solving the problem of war on terror through introducing modernity in the restive areas and through winning the hearts of the people.
What actually has been brought back by the Yousuf? No sir, no magic bullets to solve the economic crisis, and not even a promise of alms. Nothing in regard of cooperation in science, technology and engineering, and nothing in regard of military cooperation. But just annoyance expressed by Bush over the role of ISI, and threats mixed with warnings to do more, and disapproval of the masters on the role of their favorite lackey in the war on terror.

Dear brother, this visit was simply formality. Nothing new happened except the government got some charity for bearing their expenditures. Prime minister seemed very confused and messenger of some one else. We must stand on own feet now. Why we relies on others so much. If we claims to be independent nation then we should acts accordingly. Other wise our prime ministers ll get only dictations from developed world.
Expectation is a preformatted, self design, result oriented desire that is assumed and calculated as presumption with an intrinsic desire to culminate in enhanced and beneficial outcome.
Under the domain of subjective term, a halo is created by the expectant beneficiary whereas a perception based figuring of the event is perpetuated surrounding the halo.
Although such outcome are based on presumed target achievement but the contester is never intimated of such motive, so to achieve the target whereas stresses are always diverted on whether assumed desire is achieved or not by conveying the contester that what is being perceived as desire ,it should be obliged.
Logically, such strict criteria have bias reflection in the form of expression and desire.
By closely evaluating the theme of such expectation, sufferer has to bear the brunt as exposure and if the abilities environment, circumstances and situation is not under the confiscated privacy of individual as contester, results and outcome are always affected.
The same is true for if the person as contestant or candidate for expectation has ill knowledge, qualification, and tendency in respect of the contest.
Under such circumstances equal massage of guilt is to be shared by the expecting individual for not evaluating properly the contestant for probable contest.
Now to revert to the topic, Mr. Yousuf Raza gillani from day one of his exposure as premier was a proven failure highly incapable of presenting as representative, where as his profile in terms of grooming as political turnout and maturity as leader, was up to the limits of unacceptability.
Under the strict observation his reversion as failure was imminent from day one.
Similarly it is very astonishing that without any justified reason of condemnation United State of America always remains the element of annoyance and bias attitude in terms of litigation and policies by the people of Pakistan.
But on the contrary expectation in terms of relief and Aid always remains the desire of the nation, and every such visit is always perceived in the light of awards and grants with incentives, with tour as successful.
In my opinion people of Pakistan need to define their policy.
Condemning America with out seen reason ,is a bias and malicious strategy especially if obligation as grants, Aid and help are utilized.
America is a defined force on this planet and is a declared sole power in terms of sophisticated and advance technology.
We got to respect its domain and weightage similarly as we own our.
However such equilibrium be based on traditional Islamic principle of sovereignty and integrity as nation.
The leadership simply doesn’t have the guts to stand up and tell the American government about our limitations and the fact that military engagement with militants is not in Pakistan’s national interests. And of-course, if we keep accepting billions of dollars in aid on regular basis then it doesn’t leave any room for independent strategy making. Pakistan has to make some very crucial decisions ; they have to convey to the Americans that they want to engage in dialogue with the militants just because they too are Pakistanis irrespective of whatever idealogical differences they have with us. Today, unfortunately there is a complete lack of trust between the government, the people and of-course the groups who resort to militancy because of their lack of trust in the government and ‘oppression by the so-called ‘infidel’ west. It is very true that there is alot of anti-American sentiment prevalent in Pakistan and if that sentiment is to be subdued, it is absolutely imperative for Pakistan to revamp its unconditional support to America’s war on terror on American terms.
Pakistan will become alot peaceful if
1) The government of pakistan stops acting like sycophantic morons whose sole purpose of existence is to serve the US and in return, get aids which they would misuse/waste anyway.
2) Works on developing trust between different militant organizations on the basis that we all are a) muslims b) pakistanis.
Pakistani government has to stop
1) Taking financial aid to launch military attacks in the northwest province.
They should engage with the disgruntled ppl and resolve differences, lay out terms and conditions and consider them as Pakistani citizens which means, a missile striking waziristan should be treated the same way if a missile strikes Islamabad.
Pakistan has to remind the Americans that enough bloodshed of innocent ppl has been done. Pakistan cannot go forward with this, Pakistan must not go forward with this. Pakistan must back out now !

what makes us believe that we fight for the cause of America? One hand we admit US’s supremacy on the world, the other hand we think that they’re threatened by some mullah’s & insecurity causes them to launch war on terror… confusing.
We are fighting ourselves my brethren. the mullah’s kill in the name of jihad without realizing that they’re killing the innocent, poor people. (benazir was an exception, which also i believe is an inside job). And there’s no room for dialogue with people who just cannot understand the basic principles of HUMANITY. If the government decides to take a step on NATIONAL INTEREST, the common man is supposed to stand by the government and show all due respect to the decision, which is only in their own interest. On the contrary, the government has always been left aloof whenever they’ve decided anything (its our history)….
whatever differences we have with Prime Minister Gillani, he should be given the respect of the position he holds. ENGLISH should not be a criteria of judging someone’s ability and skill. He is the Prime Minister of Pakistan, and we need to take pride in him no matter what happens.
(i personally hate ppp, infact all political parties, except PML Q & Hon’ble Musharraf sb.) but its not about ppp or any other thing, its about Pakistan.
The governnment have been compelled to take military actions against the fanatics, Hon’ble President escaped 2/3 suicidal attacks, Former Minister Sherpao sb. escaped a couple of attacks and similar incidents led the government to track the workers of the game and they had to take actions against forces who’re working to destabilize pakistan, destroy and completely shatter pakistan’s global image and most importantly they’re the devil workers who’re mis using ISLAM for all this.
i think he ***** shiree rehman and personally got*** with president bush too.
that was the whole point of the trip. every new prime minister has to go to usa to give mr president a good **or else he’ll blow their ass apart
