What Unfortunate Plane Was Doing in Islamabad?

By Gul Raiz • Jul 29th, 2010 • Category: Politics, Worth A Second Look • 12 Comments

In the past, whenever Pakistani planes have met unfortunate ends like the accidents of Multan, Bahawalpur, Kathmundo, or the plane of Mushaf Mir, never the public managed to know what actually happened. The black box is still not found, and things are very murky and there are many unanswered question.

In the Margalla Hills, there are many anti aircraft guns and it is highly no fly zone and a red area. The weather was bad, but then that is no unusual for the Islamabad. Was it some sort of mistake? Nothing is final and cannot be said until the final facts appear, but no angle should be spared from investigation.

Pakistan’s aviation system is normally very good. Pilots are very well trained. The pilot of the crashed Airblue plane was very experienced and knew this trail very well. There should also be attention on the wind share and about any confusion in the mind of the pilot. It might be that it could  be the fault of the radar operator or the control tower management.

The parliament house, supreme court, president house, diplomatic enclave and many other sensitive buildings are just yards away from where the crash has occurred. That direction of the plane is very strange. Because the strip of the Benazir Bhutto airport is in opposite direction. If a plane is coming from Karachi it comes from the Karal chowk and lands into the strip, but if it doesn’t it goes straight over it, and flies over the Rawalpindi city towards the Taxila end of Margalla Hills,  but the place where plane has crashed is 90 degree opposite.

This is a reminder that airport must be shifted now from this location. Airport should be shifted from the dense Rawalpindi city, because there are many problems at the current location. There are birds flying in the air over airport because there are garbage dumps around airport. It is security risk because it is surrounded by sensitive buildings, and also the space is very scarce in the airport.

Thank you for the extremely smart suggestion. We have taken immediate notice of your input and are proud to announce the establishment of a brand new airport ‘Gul Raiz International’ in the honour of your genius. You can get more information about the new Islamabad Airport here:

  2. Its just amazing that our Govt & information Minister have two versions of Black Box. The first he confirmed that the Black box of the plane was found and at 9pm he say its not found. I was at the spot with a CAA guy who confirmed that the Black Box is found and waiting for the concerned authorities to be handed over, he was communicating with the crash site through his wireless. Everyone is saying that its the Capt’s fault but i believe its not as he was a very senior pilot with around 30000hrs flight experience so given below are my observations:
    1. There was no thunderstorm in Islamabad with normal rain and the mountains were covered with clouds otherwise rest is all clear at certain height so why the pilot didnt follow the route and went towards mountains which is 4 to 5 nautical miles away from the normal round which he needs to take. I cant believe with such experienced pilot he doesnt know where are the mountains and what was the altitude of the plane.
    2. What happen to Aircraft collision avoidance systems which is pre-installed on every plane and atleast you get to know 5 miles before what is coming to you if there is any collusion to happen so it was off or everyone at the cockpit was sleeping.
    3. Islamabad is surrounded by mountains by only two sides and the other directions its all land and no mountains so why the pilot went only towards mountains why not the open sides even he can see where are the clouds and mountains are in Islamabad. Why all the systems at the plane were unable to tell that you are flying low in altitude and there are mountains ahead.
    4. The plane altitude was very low below the required altitude which is also questionable and why the pilot unable to climb the plane.
    5. As PIA flight was directed towards Lahore then why airblue flight was kept there. I believe just to save the cost which means passengers life is not important as compared to cost.
    6. If you see on all the news channels that they went to the homes of the victims but no one went to see the pilot family or no information about them so what they want to hide or to show to the public.
    7. There were many eye witness but none of the them came on the news channels so my question is WHY. One eye witness said that the plane was not flying properly so it means there was some fault in the plane but just to safe Airline the reports are hidden and all the blame is going to the pilot.

There are many other points but what my opinion says is that there was a fault in the plane and the pilot took the plane towards mountain just to avoid civilians or more deaths in case of crash landing on the land. The black box is also now not found so this means it just vanished after being found means they want to hide information.

So all of you just think over it what point i had made.

Links for Black box found at 6pm on Geo news and other channels confirmed by Minister of Information and then at 9pm link from Geo that the Minister denied of any Black box found.

  3. It was trying to complete the full circle to try back landing….

  4. There is something fishy indeed. Loss is very tragic, but we must not carried away in emotions and try to find the root cause.

  5. It is far too early to point to a definitive cause of this terrible tragedy, and we will have to await the report of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

  6. Where is BLACK BOX?

  7. Finding exact cause of the crash of Air Blue Airbus A321 over the Margalla hills would remain trickiest question until the plausible leads come to light from analysis of the data retrieved from the Black Box if found at all. Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said the pilot had been in contact with the control tower at the airport until just before the crash.

  8. There are so many unanswered questions. it could be a combination of many things. But IMO inclement weather was the reason.

    Allah Knows Best

  9. The cause has been found.

  10. Was the pilot – a retired PIA officer aged 65 – fit for duty?

  11. @ameer CAA. An act of negligence and nothing else. We must speak against such actions from aviation industries like we do against terrorism. This is a murder of lives as well! When will be begin to realize the price of one human life in Pakistan???

  12. It is disheartening to see how sensationalism prevails over sanity. Rather than looking into conspiracy theories we need to fight the apparent enemy i.e. the Taliban who have killed thousands of innocent civilians.
