What television could be used for
By Tahir Hameed • Jan 2nd, 2010 • Category: Features • One ResponseIt is a crying shame that most of the channels that have been launched are for news specifically and not for other purposes. For example the media channels could have been dedicated towards education or guiding and instructing the youth about new careers, about how to give interviews, write resumes, cover letters, learning new languages and about what local and multinational organizations are looking for within people when it comes to hiring them. New channels could have been the showcase for local talented people in different fields.
Instead of allocating channels exclusively towards news, there are 1001 things that the channels could have been used and yet there seems to be a lack of creativity. The television should have been used as a medium of instruction and education. I remember watching programmes such as Sesame Street as a young child and that really fascinated and interested me a lot. Cartoons can also be locally made that educate the young in Maths, English, History, Geography, etc. As I have said earlier there is so much that can be done to educate our youth by using television.
You get sick and tired of watching stupid politicians being interviewed over and over again. Corrupt politicians should be jailed and treated as prisoners. Instead they roam around free to do more damage to the nation and its inhabitants.
