And to the people who are shouting that army action shouldnt be done against these Taliban and there should be dailogue: Please know that dialogue was tried. Peace treaties were given a chance. They never worked. They only allowed time for Taliban to regroup and make their forces larger. It also gave them recognition a a force and confidence that goverment will bow down to them. The time for talking is over. Its time to take some decisive action. However this war came into Pakistan, doesnt matter, its in Pakistan now and Pakistan's problem. We need to take care of it.

Well of course this is what they want. They want Pakistani goverment and people to surrender to them so that they may take over Pakistan and run it according to their version of the Shariah: which will be hell for people here and so totally not acceptable to Pakistani people. We are mashallah a diverse nation and we have been living in peace and harmony but now these people want to disturb all that. They only want people to follow their version of Islam and if you do not do that then you will be killed. In short, its a lunatic policy. If you chat with these people I am sure they have no plans on how to run a country even if they take over (God forbid). Pakistani people will suffer from more poverty, lack of education (esp. women), more backwardness and a ruthless goverment if these taliban ever come to power. That is not acceptable to us. So even though many of us might have differences with our goverment and our army, this is a time for unity, to support our troops in wiping out these taliban or at least driving them away from Pakistan.

very true indeed!
violence only begets violence, that is a fact. The dynamics are very different from what we miles away think. There is widespread hatred for the (which used to be) most respected institution of our country. I think if we really need to solve the problem we'll have to do something different.

Yesterday while on my way to Lahore, a fellow passenger with me was Mehsud and belonged to the South Waziristan. I had a detail discussion with him and beside this, one part of my family belong to North Waziristan so i think we should try to be a bit more reasonable in our arguments before passing on statements which threaten the very survival of a specific segment of our society. I think if learned people like Revo start speaking like this, what else we expect from others who are thousands of miles away from the battlefield. The dynamics of the conflict in Waziristan are not that simple as generally believed by many people around. The people which you are calling "Talibans" are not the hardcore Talibans we saw in Afghanistan but the general population of our tribal areas. This so called Taliban movement is powered by the locals and hence i don't think it will end that easily with just a military action.
Revo! Do you think our army is showing mercy to those people? Let me tell you that they are not showing slight mercy for any of them but still we see a growing trend of militancy and talibanisation. Just simply going on a killing spree wont solve the problem as more and more people will join it, which is what is happening right now.
Just wanted to let you know what majority of the locals says "We hate Talibans but we hate army even more". Lastly, since you know a lot about guerrilla warfare, let me add that the famous "Art of War" says that "Run away when the enemy attacks" so i don't think expecting the Taliban to fight a frontal battle is a sane thought. We need to bring back the previous Governor NWFP Ali Muhammad Jan Aurakzai, himself a tribal, to solve the problem rather then brining imported governors from Baluchistan. I wonder what is so special about the imported governor that he was brought to NWFP? Did he liberated the Baluchistan that we brought him to NWFP? Why we don't look into the fact that an ex corps commander and die hard supporter of Musharraf disengaged himself and disassocited himself from the government actions int he tribal areas and presented his resignation.
I have never been exposed to fighting myself but i have the experience of watching rockets fly by your head with a buzzing sound and i know how terrible it feels to hear the big bang it causes. You never know when it will fall at your home. All i said is said in good faith and an effort to minimize irresponsible statements coming out of our fellow Pakistani's. I am not a sympathizer of Al-Qaeda or Talibans but i think war is not a solution either.
Regards

What in the hell these Talibans want now? They want to just wipe the only nuclear Islamic country from the face of world? Ok,

I am not sure whether it's Irony or ignorance behind your statement but allow me tell you that Pakistani nuclear program was always on hit list of India,US and Israel and in past attempts had been made by mentioned countries one way or another to destroy Pakistan's nuclear program. Late Sahibzada Yaqoob Khan admitted that US officials used to investigate them about Pakistan's nuclear program and they had to take every measure to save it.

Interesting thing is that Pakistan's nuclear program was started by Bhutto and guarded by Zia in 80s which gives me impression that nukes for Pakistan are just like Israel for USofA that is, no change in policy by democrats or republicans about Israel(to save it).

If United States finally decides to enter Pakistan, these Talibans will run again, leaving the Pakistani nation confronted with United States forces. This is what India, Israel and Karzai wants.

wise people always learn from mistakes or others mistake. Pakistani dictator Gen(retard) Musharraf didn't learn lesson from past dictators like Saddam.Yahya and Zia that US doesn't make friends, it only make allies. Saddam was spoon fed by US in 70s and 80s and then what happened with Saddam is not a hidden secret. The way US tryin to save his ass in Afghanistan and Iraq is also not hidden. A wise leader could learn from these "silly" mistakes by Bush that terrorism can't be answered by another kind of terrorism(i.e: state terrorism). Dialogue is the only way to resolve such issue. Musharraf is jus following path of other dictators who screwed this country up and get burnt later by their own master(US). On other hand we idiot Awam keep buying theory by any ruling govt and act like fuel to keep those stories up. how lame we are!
