What Should be the End of Long March
By Ali Yar Khan • Jun 18th, 2008 • Category: Politics • 14 CommentsThere is no doubt about the success of the long march, and there is also no doubt about the failure of its ending. The intensity, passion and the overflowing sentiments of the people who thronged the Parade Avenue demanded a befitting end. The way it was abruptly called off not only left clouds of disappointments and also the a trail of suspicions.
Left aside the different theories and the talk about the conspiracies and the deals, one shouldn’t be so wary of the leaders of the lawyers movement who carried on this candle of justice and democracy all these months, and who have sacrificed a lot for this noble cause.
It’s true that it was nearly impossible to go for the sit-in in the scorching heat of June Summer without any shadows and other facilities and it was impossible to sit on the melting charcoal road of parade avenue. Whenever such huge gatherings are arranged, they are planned well in time, and they arrange it with camps, water supply, electricity and other things.
It’s now evident that the lawyers leadership made a mistake of not planning the long march from start to end. They should have specified their destination and the objectives and the ending criterion before the start of the long march. All this debate is the result of their ill planning.
Whatever it was, the sudden departure from the parade avenue wasn’t appropriate in any sense, and it has given a severe blow to the lawyers movement. What they should have done is to remain there up till the start of the budget debate session start of national assembly and then they should have departed from there after making a mark upon the assembly members. That would have made much more sense.
Now it would be obvious in few days time as why Aitzaz Ahsan bowed in front of Zardari’s request to not to stage a sit in in front of assembly.

It should be forgotten like a bad, real bad dream; a nightmare, a horrible episode in our national experience.
End of long march should began the commencement of rule of law in our country but practically it looks still very difficult but after seeing the spirit of non functional judges, strength of small civic society and huge sacrafices of lawyers community are giving me lots of hope that some how Allah would help them in HIS way that is inconcievable to ordinary people like me and my corrupt ruling mafia.Hard work and sacrafice are the acts of believer and are protected by God so no way the energy and true spirit of our literate class would be wasted. This part of my faith and trust on God .
Nazia, Nazia, Nazia! Allah in His wisdom had decided and made it known that He is “Rab Al Alameen” (for whole of the universe) and certainly above such petty little things like become a partisan. I believe He has created us all and is beyond party politics. Must you or me go public with something as personal as our “faith” and “trust”.
The people who consider rule of law as petty things shouldnt particpate in such kind of discussions as its is beyond their imagination that how important for a nation to strenghten its system of judiciary.Powerful and influential groups dont require law abiding system as it always creates hurdles for their supremacy but it is a life and honour saving unit for common man who firstly need sense of security for himself or his families. Before 10 years we have only karachi where working class from other cities always avoided to move here due to its security’s issues now at this time whole country has more worst security problems than Karachi and at this moment if we dont favour such movements that is leading us toward rule of law then certainly we are senseless nation.
Nazia I have a perception, that you are too young to understand bureaucracy and its move.
Although you must be familiar to the system by virtue of your intimate relations in bureaucratic environment but in order to understand methodology or modus operandi, you got to go through the same reservoir of mess which in future curtails as an alarm for you before such second exposure.
Bureaucracy and establishment have initiated the reaction to respond and first incentive in lieu of pay and emoluments have been received.
Similar lucrative and financial boost have also been offered and accepted as no other option.
People always save their future and prospects.
Three years of position can not take the power of lavish living for generation.
The same themes have been applied and had been obliged, as expected.
Visa to a place other than Pakistan is a much better option.

System can not be fight by individual or group of people.
Every body wants to live a happy life with their families.
Who will look after if, head of the family is not there to look after.
Please see choices and options are the domain of government and orders are the sphere of citizen.
In a country at anarchical devastation, if Benazir Bhutto is not safe no body is safe.
Mr. Aitazaz is the front man of zardari from almost decade looking after his litigations and had enjoyed multiple positions as well. If previous governance, establishment and bureaucracy could not curtail or destabilize zardari’s will there is no one to negate his desire, at least presently.
Raza
I am quite old enough to see the depth of corrupt and ever green establishment in my homeland. If you carefully watched the history of division of India and then division of Pakistan then one can easily judge the role of our ill intention establishment in all matters. For me they are still working on the legacy of British rulers that all good opportunites for them and their families and rest is for poor people.Political icons are their partime friends who are strengthened as per requirement of the sytem. One latest example of this corrupt system is clearly open in present regime that whole governance matters are in hands of estblishment that has played an important role in Shuakat aziz regime and now cursing them with the new political team.Through out the time of independence Pakistanis people are being fooled by changing the skin of fragile system and it is all done by ruling mafia.First time in the history of Pakistan a movement has been started accidently but now it has become phobia for ruling mafia.
yours all lines are reflecting the true picture of our system but the question is how to get rid of this system before the bloody coup starts on our streets. We as an educated class can only start some movement where there should be some principles for survival of common man not the elite class.
Atizaz is part of PPP before the parachute induction of zardari there. One can accept his errors but no ruling group could have been able to prove his corruption in his field.
It was the first job of next heirs of benazir to expediate her probe. But instead of this his beloved Husband is promoting reconcilation culture among the most corrupt and crimnals characters of society. So the system that protects crimnals can only lead to devastation. That is historical truth not my personal point of view.
I agree with Nazia. Zardari’s ear to ear grins cannot cajole us, and if two thieves have forgiven each other, then we must be more wary of them. Previously there was some respite, as these two spent half of time plundering us, and the other half fighting each other. Now they have all the time in the world to plunder us.
I am quite old enough ………………….what is your age please ?i know its very disturbing for women to answer.
please do not mind its just a joke to ease the discussion .
I am returning your joke
if this would a match making forum then surely I would give you my age but age is not requirement of this forum so no need to display.
That last comment by respectable Nazia shows her maturity and sagacity and the seriousness towards the discussion. Why Raza you consider yourself embodiment of ultimate wisdom in your unending smugness?
And to top it off, in the middle of a serious discussion, you are curious about a woman’s age.
