Nowadays you have RHEL 5 and the community equivalent centos 5. Centos 4/ RHEL 4 is a very good server OS and I am sure you will find the learning experience worthwhile. In fact RHEL/Centos is the most widely used linux distribution for web servers and I myself am using centos 5 on my web server.
