Wattoo in PPP : Meaningless Maneuver

By Dr. Hassan Isfahani • Jun 2nd, 2008 • Category: Politics • 2 Comments

Mian Manzoor Wattoo of Okara, Punjab along with Hamid Nasir Chattha of Gujranwala Punjab, and Chaudharies of Gujrat of Punjab are the leading lotas of Pakistan. Whenever, one utters the word lota, pictures of these politician loom large. Whenever government formation happens in the Punjab, or whenever dictators or the conspirators want to manipulate the government of Punjab, they approach any of these political figures for their advances.

Watto, Chattha and Chaudharies, they remain ready for the rule and power any time, and they have proven time and time again that they could do anything for it. They don’t have any principles and they dont have any ideology or ethics. They are just mad after the power and the treasury. Pity on the people, who elect them.

After making government in Punjab, PPP wanted to have government in Punjab, but because of their restive coalition with PML-N they couldnt publicly confront PML-N in Punjab. So gradually they started making inroads. They joined the provincial cabinet of Punjab, and then they appointed Salman Taseer as the governer of Punjab, a veteran adversary of PML-N. Then the appointed Manzoor Wattoo as advisor to Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani on Industries and Production. What sort of advice the premier would need from Wattoo in this regard would be interesting to know.

But PPP should remember that Wattoo was once the chief minister of Punjab from Muslim League. He ditched them to join  other power corridors, and now as the PPP comes into the power, Wattoo swings again. Wattoo is of no use for PPP in their bid to takeover Punjab.

  1. AOA,

I have read the article just now although it has been published in June. I belong to the same consituency from which one of the person you are talking about has been elected. I cannot say anything further as u justly describe the whole political drama of Punjab in a logical way. This is democracy of Pakistan and will remain like this for years to come. People who want to change it cannot be elected easily.
