War Over Niqab
By Natasha Suleman • Oct 10th, 2009 • Category: Features • 3 CommentsWithout getting into the details of whether the partial niqab ban imposed at Al Azhar is right or wrong , I wish to highlight a related news that caught my attention while I was going through the details of the ban. A paragraph read :
A millitant Palestinian group,Jand Ansar Allah, posted a statement on the Internet on Wednesday criticizing Tantawi and calling on Muslims to carry out attacks against the Egyptian government.
The media wing of the group accused Tantawi of ‘declaring war on the niqab’ and facilitating matters of vice in a statement posted on its website according to the Washington-based SITE intelligence group, which monitors millitant messages.
One might for a second doubt the credibility of the news considering that it has been broken by an American intelligence group but looking at the way terrorists claiming to kill in the name of Islam have been behaving over the past few years, it won’t be hard for an ordinary Muslim like me to brush these doubts away and believe the news.
A particular section of the Muslim society finds reasons to create violence and kill in the name of religion. These Muslims need not necessarily be millitants .The recent attacks on the minority Christian community over so-called incidences of blasphemy have been an eye-opener revealing how ‘tolerant, fair and peaceful’ we are as a Muslim nation.I choose to avoid the term ‘Islamic’ for I know that the religion is not to be blamed for what the followers are doing.Islam is the greatest relgion , Muslims the worst followers.Killing and murdering on petty issues is no big deal for these ’soldiers’ of religion who are actually a blot on the name of Islam ,contaminating Muslim mindset all over the world.
The so-called defenders of faith are awake. The Niqab war is on.Expecting more bloodshed in the name of the world’s most beautiful relgion that says :
‘On that account – We ordained for the Children of Israel that if anyone slew a person – unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land – it would be as if he slew the whole people : and if anyone saved a life , it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people.’
Quran 5:32

How u behave is more important than what u belief.
Holy Quran is a great book.
The quotation that u gave at last paragraph is also excellent
Muslims have read that for last 1400 years……..then went out and Killed fellow muslims and others.
Try correcting behaviour.
War over niqab is by product of war on terror, more Muslim leadership would accept the war deals more minor issues would be generated to push us toward more backwardness and disintegration.
We have cornered all the verses like that mentioned in last lines of Quran and picking the old historical verses that was mostly used as guide lines to spread Islam and its teachings,
Now we should focus on its preservations and integration.
But seeing the irremediable attitude of our leadership it is obvious that still lot of tough time is coming ahead for ordinary Muslims till we start using our wisdom beyond religious constraints.
Irrespective of this that which seminary has banned use of Hijab, the fact remains that the verses of holy Quran and the teaching of holy prophet(PBUH) are the best guidlines for us. The teachings about “Parda” are very clear in Holy Quran. It’s ordered to the wives of prophet (Ummahat Ul Momineen) not to show their beauty by covering their bodies properly and the same applies to all the muslim females. Egypt is dreaming for modernization and trying to get some place in the heart of West and America and for this purpose, this seminary is trying to please them.
I don’t know what’s etching the people if our honourable muslim females keep themselves covered and not expoesed like western females who are far away from the grace and dignity.
