- A bomb has exploded in Islamabad near the Danish and Norwegian Embassy in the upmarket F-6/2 sector. Residents reported hearing a very large blast at around 1pm. Footage of the city shows a rising plum of smoke from the vicinity of the blast. Dawn News has quoted 112 rescue service as reporting that eight people are confirmed dead, incuding one foreigner, and 24 people have been injured, 15 are considered to be in critical condition.

- A suspected sectarian attack claimed the lives of five people in Dera Ismail Khan on Monday. Gunmen fired at a rickshaw travelling on the outskirts of the town, killing three passengers and the rickshaw driver. The assailants then hurled a grenade and sprayed bullets at policemen who were chasing them. One policeman died in the attack, says AFP.

- Thieves, feuding tribesmen and Taliban militants are creating chaos along the main Pakistan-Afghanistan pass, threatening a vital supply line.
