War on Terror : For Us, Pakistan Comes First
By Brig. (r) Junaid Zaman • Jun 5th, 2008 • Category: Politics • One ResponseNow here comes the Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Michael Mullen. It’s second visit of Michael Mullen to Pakistan in these three months, and his visits have always brought some change in the policies on war on terror, and this visit which has come so close to the horrendous suicide attack outside the Danish embassy is very meaningful, and sounds ominous.
During his visit, he is openly declared to discuss the policies on war on terror with the Pakistani high-ups. In the able leadership of army chief General Ashfaq Kayani and also chairman of the joint chiefs of staffs committee Gen Tariq Majeed, Army is fast getting back its professional image and its credibility is being fast restored in the common people, which was badly tarnished by the Draconian and subservient to US rule of Musharraf.
Now these echelons of Pakistan Army must not let US chief or other arm twisters like Johan Negroponte or Richard Boucher to come and dictate us the policies and keep us from striking the peace deals with the local people of Pakistan. Pakistan should make it crystal clear to US that the defense, peace, stability and strength of Pakistan comes first and then comes any thing else.
We understand US concerns for the global peace and their homeland security, and will continue to work them rigorously for peace and harmony but not at the expense of suicide attacks and bomb blasts and separatists movements in our country.
