Vote For Me
By Sherjeel Jarral • Aug 29th, 2010 • Category: Features • No ResponsesVote for me i l bring development and prosperity, the all time favourite slogan of a politician when addressing the people of his constituency. Election overs, elected members took oath and now they are the legal leaders of the country. The process of development and prosperity certainly begins but for the politicians and unfortunately ends for the common man of the country. This is the tragedy Pakistan facing for last 5o years.
Contesting an election in Pakistan is an equal opportunity for all citizens, but ground realities are much, much different. The key to success is money, more you spent more fruitful, the results obtained. So big landlords industrialist, family members of high officials can place their bets. Rest of the people can participate as good supporters or silent spectators.
You need a school in your village or a medical college in the city, hospital or a dispensary road or a flyover Mr ( MNA and MPA) are there at your service. Government provides, funds to these politions. They spend it to raise certain projects some are very personal and other projects belong to their relatives and loyal supporters. At last the development story ends with this announcement that government has no funds at all. You have to wait and this wait last for next elections to come.
Despite of all this, we have few politicians who works with real passion. However they are very few. Honestly you need a magnifier glass if you want to figure them out.
Flood hitting Pakistan causes immense devastation. Thousands were dead and millions are homeless. Again our billionaires politicians have no funds to cope with situation. For this huge fund raising campaign is launched throughout Pakistan and abroad in terms of aid. People are dying with hunger and disease. Lack of proper supplies and management failures are the issues making things more worst. An anger is prevailing among the victims. UN had declared it as biggest humanitarian disaster.
Time has come when our politicians have to think seriously. They have to generate funding from their own pockets. Through their work they have to prove nation. No media scoring gestures, there should be complete harmony among the political parties. They can change the opinion of nation that we politician can bring development and prosperity.
People vote for you and now they are waiting for you. Now it’s up to you whether you act like a leader or rest like a politician. The choice is yours…
