Undermining of Public Interest
By Maria Sultan • Jan 3rd, 2010 • Category: Politics • 3 CommentsIs it fair to hinder the best interest of the people of land in the name of strengthening of the democracy? Well it’s not yet another monologue about favoring the dictatorship or national government or any other kind of governance model.
But I am not one of those who believe that the worst democracy is better than the best dictatorship. If worst democracy means open license to loot, plunder, murder and every other kind of crime and the subjugation of basic human rights and paragon of incompetency, then I would go for any kind of other government.
Why we hate dictatorship? Because we cannot question it and the dictators always go against the wishes of people and they always act at their own and believe that they have got everything under the sun in their control and they are the owners of the destiny of country. Isn’t what we are witnessing from the current rulers?
I don’t see any difference between the dictatorship and the current democracy. Do you?

I agree..there is no change if we put into notice the plight of people nowadays, living with the same threat to life as one sets foot an inch outside one’s house, the same power crises looming large, shortage of food, not to mention the political turmoil and the blame game.We only had a mere change of faces from Musharraf to Zardari, even the policies being followed are the same.
Be it the worst of democracy or best of dictatorship, nothing has been changed so far and will not unless the rulers acknowledge their responsibilities.
Our main problem is still persistent that was seriously felt in Musharraf era and it is lack of concern of parliament towards public interests.
It looks we people send cartoons in our parliaments or they are highly self centered people whose only interests are personal or for limited range of people.
Dummy democracy is always created after failed dictaotrship in the history of Pakistan and each time crown was placed on head of PPP.
so it is sure that PPP comes through deals with military and then go out of control or might be fall free to show public that democracy doesn’t suit us.
Why worst democracy can be justified in our system?
Unfair means, corruption, and wrong deeds on the name of democracy is actually insult of people’s mandate.
This govt is continuity of dictatorship regime that is why 17th amendment cant be touched in last two years .
Zardari selection on top seat is itself telling us the horror of pseudo democratic system under US think tanks.
