Dear Peer Khan,
Darling Buds of May --------- If you see it; in Urdu buds are the Ghnuchas that the flowers have to pass this stage of budding before they could bloom.

Buds are the symbol of hope and depict a practical example how they start filling the colour in the dreams to see it come true. For sure they bring up the bloom so people adore them and they are called as darling. May is the season that when the budding starts taking shape that this month is the month of blooming especially in the northern hemisphere.
Back to the phrase itself,. I agree that it is best known these days as the title of H. E. Bates' story of idyllic country life, which has been made into a successful comedy television series. Bates took the title from Shakespeare who coined it in his celebrated Sonnet 18:
Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimmed,
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature's changing course untrimmed:
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st,
Nor shall death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st,
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see.

Any how this phrase so coined above by me to describe the fate of Benazir is all about dreams that most of the Pakistanis dreamt to see the budding Benazir, the darling leader of the people in the street that she was all set to bloom but her fate plucked her away. The lady fell in the traps set by the enemy of Pakistan and with her----- the dawn of democracy that Pakistanis dreamt and were about to witness it blooming after a long absence of polity in their real life in Pakistan---- also went down.
Now what we have got-------- same old dictatorial regimes with their faces changed-----wearing the labels of democratic lot-------but trying to stay afloat riding the sinking ship of NRO.

A Khokhar
what are you trying to say""""""""""The Darling Buds of May is a British comedy drama which was first broadcast between 1991 and 1993 produced by Yorkshire Television for the ITV Network. It is set in an idyllic rural 1950s Kent, among a large, boisterous family. The three series were based on the novels by H. E. Bates. Originally categorised by Yorkshire TV as a drama, some regard it as a comedy. The earlier episodes are perhaps more comical, and the episode "A Season of Heavenly Gifts", is certainly more dramatic than the others.

Note:
The Phrase ‘The darling buds of May’

Meaning an appreciation of what is fresh and new.

Origin
The phrase refers to the opening buds that point toward the warm summer season ahead and to the freshness and exuberance of youth as it turns toward adult maturity. It probably refers not to the month of May directly but to the May tree (the Common Hawthorn) that flowers in England at that time of year. The hawthorn is important in the mythology of old England and there's a rich symbolism wrought from its standing as an early flowering common tree. Global warming has now given the UK a climate that causes May to begin flowering earlier, but I doubt that the 'darling buds of April' will ever catch on.
