There is no institutional Clashes; Justice Iftikhar

By Faiz Aman • Jan 29th, 2010 • Category: Politics • 3 Comments

Some people are very keen to see the institutional clash in the country. For this purpose they are highlighting the issue of immunity to the president in the constitution of Pakistan. They are trying their best to convince the people that there is no such immunity given to the president in the detailed verdict of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

Ather Minallah the former spokesperson of the Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudry says that there is no mention of Article 248, which gives immunity to the president, in the detailed verdict and the people who are claiming such things are totally wrong in their claim.

The well wishers might be too down this time because Chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudry has said today that “There will be no clashes between institutions and I want to strengthen democracy in Pakistan,”

In another development priminister Gillani has said during his speech in the National Assembly that the government will not open the Swiss cases because Constitution of Pakistan gives immunity to the president and if the parliament disapproves this immunity he is ready to reopen the cases immediately. The priminister said that he needs time to implement the Court’s orders.

I think these people are not interested in the court decision against NRO or anything else because if they were interested then they might ask about the other 8000 NRO beneficiaries as well. But they only want one person to be trialed that is president Zardari. But unfortunately this man is a fighter and he is not an easy man to give up soon. He has faced these false charges for more than 15 years and this kind of victimization is not new for him. He has categorically told his opponents that he will not leave the presidency on false charges. He will face the hidden forces with his democratic power that is given to him by the people of Pakistan.

The visit of the president to Sindh and Punjab has greatly uplifted the political power and the image of the president and this thing is not digestible for his opponents. But ‘well wishers’ of democracy are anxiously to have ‘good news’ soon either it comes from Supreme Court or it comes from the Army. Their first prediction of December went unharmed but the new deadline i-e March should be fruitful for them.

Can you digest the fact that you elected a President who has submitted a certificate of mental incapability in a court of law to save his own ass that questioned his ill gotten wealth. Not to forget that it was your and my tax money that was ruthlessly plundered ?

Can you digest the fact that your and mine profit earning steel mills has been looted in the last two years to show loses worth billions ?

Can you digest the looting that has been going on in your and mine PIA, Railways and defense deals since the last two years ?

Can you digest the fact that ( I don’t know about you but ) my Benazir would write a will making him in charge of all affairs of Pakistan ?

Put your hand on your heart and say that you can digest all these facts coz if you do then make sure you know the way to the nearest mental correction institute or the nearest adult education school.

  2. @mubashar. How about we digest everything that has been happening in the past and try to reflect a liberal and moderate outlook where we come on common grounds rather than talking about differences. No1 is perfect and mistakes have been made but not all happening is wrong. Unless we people do not raise voice against issues like extremism and corruption I believe Pakistan cannot thrive.

Well this is exactly what we as a nation have been doing for the past 62 years with a false hope that may be this time it might bring a different and positive result. It has never, and will never produce a different result, unless someone who happens to be a bigger genius than Newton, comes out and proves that is there “does” exist a new law which contradicts the old one that is by doing the same procedure one can come up to a different result.

With due respects to your kind and admirably forgiving heart, in my opinion we as a nation for a change should at “least try” a different approach like a non forgiving one and then maybe we can at least come up to a different or who knows may be a better situation. By not doing it we would just continue to live a dreamer’s mirage until these vultures are completely done with our bones as well.So I would, with due apologies, disagree with your point of view.
