The UNSUNG HEROES
By Guest Blogger • Mar 22nd, 2009 • Category: Politics • One ResponseAn issue is partially resolved and people seem to be happy. Good for the nation. But sadly, the success is largely been attributed to Pakistan Muslim League (N) for some reason. I ackonwledge, PML(N) was quite sincere in their efforts towards the restoration of judges. However, one feels they have been given more than their deserved share of applause. And the ray of hope that emerged courtesy this movement, that a right wing alliance comprising of PML(N), JI and PTI will emerge, seem to be fading by every day that passes.
Those who were present there in the long march must have witnessed who did what. It was primarily the workers of Jamaat-e-Islami and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, who were at GPO chowk in numbers. Let us bear in mind that PML(N) is not a workers’ party, it is more of a voters’ party just like PPP. The largest party having active workers has to be the JI, followed maybe by the facist MQM.
If one analyzes what caused the authority to panic and let the carvan move on was the defiance shown at GPO Chowk. Lawyers were mostly in the High court premises. It was the determinition of PTI and JI workers which led the government surrender, which eventually resulted in success of the whole nation. PML(N) caravan moved on only when they were given the green signal. I don’t intend to take anything away from the PML(N). They surely have given a lot of sacrifices for this cause, but formy likings they are over-valued. The ultimate motive could not have been achieved as easily as it was without the determined party workers of JI and PTI. Just give it a spare of thought folks!
P.S: I am not JI worker or supporter.
