The Fault and the Divide: an account of the 2005 Earthquake

Last night as I lay on my bed pondering the current situation in Pakistan, I thought back to the days when Pakistan had a war to fight besides the Americans destined to drive out extremism from the core in the north-western territories. But then my mind took me on a painful ride across the events that occurred on the eight day of the tenth month of the year 2005. Yes, the earthquake that left Pakistan shaken in its step towards progress and lay waste to a generation of would-be leaders and youth. While I dove through to the very moments of the dreadful and tragic morning, I remembered a website someone had told me to visit a few days back, WEbook.com.

Here on this website, one can write a book with no holds barred and express as much as they can about the topic they love the most. It couldn’t have had been more convenient as I sat down and started writing the accounts of October 2005. Within moments, I had written a chapter and gorged myself into a thick fictitious plot for the tragedy to settle into. I would be dedicating the book I call, “The Fault and the Divide” to all the readers of the Pakistani Spectator.

Using this very place to start then, I would want everyone to share their stories of that day to be featured in the book. I would be grateful to anyone who has a piece of history somewhere in their memories lost. Sharing is worth letting others know of the tragedies that helped you in the time when the nation had none but a torn people to mend its wounds.
