If Baitullah Mehsud has been sent to hell by the hellfire missiles shot from the US drones with the help of intelligence from the Pakistan, then it surely is going to boost the US image in Pakistan and the antagonism towards the Drone attacks among the Pakistanis will be reduced.

It surely is the case that Taliban terrorism would continue even if Baitullah is dead, but it would be very weak, splintered and would be very easy to quash. Baitullah’s dismissal from this world would also reduce the power of Taliban and hence the suicide attacks and bomb blasts will be no more.

One thing that irks me a lot is the news that after the drone attack in Makeen, where allegedly Baitullah was residing, Taliban cordoned off the area and then Taliban vehicles started coming. There are media reports that large and powerful vehicles were also seen which remain under the use of foreigner militants.

The question is why didnt the US drones and the Pakistani jets targeted those vehicles and the gathering of Taliban? Why don’t they just demolish the whole of Makeen district before giving warning to innocent residents to vacate the area? There are certainly many gaping questions in this war against terror.
