In India and Pakistan not many people read him due to language barrier and lack of his Indian publishers of English and local languages.
Tariq Ali is big in UK Europe and America.He will be best suited to be President of Pakistan due to his intellect and exposure to international affairs but he is an Atheist so consitution of Pakistan doesnot allow non-Muslims to be president.

2nd he is anti America ,anti Zardari and anti Army so no chance of his involvement in Pakistan politics.

If I remember correct Tariq ali used to be a firebrand communist during his younger days and Pakistan was aligned with USA through SEATO/CENTO and India was aligned covertly with Soviet union. He used to be called an Indian agent. Now he has matured and shows lot of courage and incise analysis about Pakistani issues.But i think very few read him

I think the multimedia link with BBC Urdu article and interview is very informative.If you cannot read Urdu then at least watch the interview with Tariq Ali.
FYI Urdu text talks about BBC drama and legal dispute between British government and Tariq Ali regarding UK relation with dictator Zia.
The interview is a trip dowm memory lane by Tariq Ali analysing Bhutto era.Good journalism indeed.

Ahmadinijad enjoys support from rural, semi urban iranians( the majority )……..but a significant section of urban iranians want more freedom hence support the reformists…..and it is this section that western media is focusing on…….

Dear Shri Durrani,
Please read the Indo/US nuclear deal and its conditions. The US even removed Mani Shankar Iyer who was the Petroleum Minister in the Indian Government and following vigorously Iran/Pakistan/India pipeline and almost clinched the deal when he was booted out inspite of his decade long closeness to the Gandhi family. As per geopolitical considerations Iran gas and oil wealth is earmarked for Europe only. India cannot have it nor Pakistan .The present nuclear stand off is also a game to subdue the Iranian Mullahs to give their oil wealth as dictated by west. Saddam learnt the leasson by his death.
Zardari may learn soon that Pakistani Army may pose as opposiing Americans etc but actually will take orders from CIA as General Zia , General Musharaff used to do and also Genral Kiyani or any other.
Kerry lugar bill is OK as long as greenpacks was operated by GHQ and not by civilians.

Thanks for posting this. It brought back memories of a shared history in which KISSINGER ordered Indian Primeminister Indira Gandhi killed through ISI trained Sikh agents like Kahalistan commando force etc. Her crime is creation of INDIAN NUCLEAR BOMB as BHUTTO did for Pakistan.Brig Zia also killed 10,000 Palestinians in Jordan for King Hussein’s throne on the orders of CIA ( remembered as black September).Pakistan does not learn from its own recent history.
Zardari’s crime is his equation with Iran and bringing Iranian gas defying America.He will be killed or removed soon for this.
