Talal Bugti’s Demands

By Ali Yar Khan • Dec 22nd, 2008 • Category: Politics • 2 Comments

President of the Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) Nawabzada Talal Bugti in a meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari presented a 24-point charter of demands to the president that included an end to the military operation in Balochistan, removal of the military cantonments from Balochistan, release of acquired lands of Nawab Akbar Bugti and restoration of bank accounts of the Bugti family, presentation of a bill in parliament for the rights of Balochistan on its mineral resources and natural gas and action against those who were involved in the killing of Nawab Akbar Bugti.

Talal Bugti’s demands are the mixture of some legitimate grievances and the personal interests. His demands about the release of his lands and money and share in the natural resources are not appropriate especially when the people of his province are living in very dismal conditions. He should have demanded jobs, education, health, safety and peace for his people, instead of strengthening of his own vested interests.

His demands of asking for the arrest and punishment of Musharraf are very well placed and echo the sentiments of over-whelming majority of Pakistanis. He is not only the killer of his father, he has also ruthlessly killed in FATA, Swat, Lal Masjid and other parts of the country and the current bloodshed is also due to his policies. But PPP is carrying on with those policies and then how could they arrest and punish Musharraf?

After all that was not part of the deal.

  1. There should also be included a plan from Mr. Bugti how he is going to contribute to the development of Baluchistan.

  2. Yes, all his demands should be met if he answers one question “What was he and his other accomplices doing with RAW in Afghanistan”?
