By Haris Hashmi • Jun 6th, 2009 • Category: Politics

Things are slowly, very slowly returning to the normal in the outskirts of the Malakand Agency and in some of the areas like Buner. Small pickets of people have slowly started to return to Buner and life is turning over out there. June has approached and the sun is becoming more and more cruel, even [...]

Of lies, media spins and the US targeting our nukes

By Dr Shireen M Mazari • Jun 6th, 2009 • Category: Politics

To learn firsthand how reality loses its relevancy in the media-spin age has been an experience which explains why so many news reports eventually reveal themselves as having not an iota of reality about them. For me the reports on the APC called by Prime Minister Gilani were an interesting study on how what really [...]

Review - The IDP Charity Concert

By The Partylicious • Jun 5th, 2009 • Category: Entertainment

Not many know that the IDP Charity Concert held last month came together in barely a week’s time! Interestingly, Partylicious heard about the event 5-6 days before its D-Day when we were sitting down for an informal chatter with Adnan Sarwar of Racing Pakistan. When he told us that efforts were being made to make this concert happen in a matter of 5 days, we eyed him doubtfully and then his green tea wondering if it had been spiked or something. 5 days only? Why not give it another week’s cushion? “The people who need our assistance can’t wait, then how can we. It will happen for sure,” he had said with a glint of hope and conviction in his eyes.

And happen it did!

Doing all this while being in USA to beg for USAID. No prizes for telling who is the person alighting from the lavish limousine is.

IDPs, You are Pride of Pakistan

By Haris Hashmi • Jun 3rd, 2009 • Category: Politics

Though I don’t agree with the term ‘Internally Displaced People’ for the great people of Malakand and FATA, but that doesn’t really diminish their sacrifices for the nation and for the country. There is no denying the fact that the displaced people need the help, support and backing of the people of the Pakistan. These [...]

By Tanzeel • Jun 2nd, 2009 • Category: Politics

Right now battle of SWAT and Rehabilitation of IDPs are the two main fronts where Pakistan is struggling for. By the grace of God our forces have almost accomplished the task and successfully destroyed major militants’ hideouts but regrettably the excuse for fighting this war is still there. Some days back our [...]

Too Little, Too Late

By Muskan Hina • Jun 1st, 2009 • Category: Politics

Millions upon Millions of people have left their homes in FATA and Swat and are now haplessly knocking on the doors of Punjab and Sindh, while overwhelming majority of them is straying in the NWFP. The prime reason of their displacement is the America’s presence in the Afghanistan. Both America and Taliban are responsible for [...]

Then they came for me.

By A Khokar • May 30th, 2009 • Category: Politics

This nation is in awful mess.  There is utter chaos and anarchy which prevails in all the spheres of society. An atmosphere of extremism in the vicious wake of  Talibanisation is found all over in the length and breadth of the country—- but matter of the fact is that we let these—- extremist breed among us— unquestionably. It [...]
