Sri Lankan Cricket Team Attacked : India Behind Terrorism?
By Farid Masood • Mar 3rd, 2009 • Category: Politics • 21 CommentsToday morning while Sri Lankan cricket team being escorted to Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, was attacked by almost a dozen gunmen. This incident took life of five policemen and injured five players and one official of Sri Lankan cricket team. Sri Lankan sports minister is trying for the urgent return of the team.
The version of this attack is like Mumbai one. In Pakistan, no one has objections on playing games like cricket even the religious parties. This is induced form of terrorism, practiced in Mumbai to reap certain results. It is very early to say that Indian agencies are involved in it, but it may have some benefits for them.

i disagree obvious doubt would go to the indians, trying to avenge the Mumbai attacks, but right now the biggest threat to Pak Govt is the Long March due to take place in a few days
i think this attack is a distraction for the nation, and would be used to accuse NS, and the lawyers of being selfish , thinking of their own motives at a critical time like this
how eles would one explain the presence of the gunmen at the alternative route being used, someone who knew the change in plan must have inform the gunmen atleast 5 hours in advance, which enabled the gunmen to take positions on the route
equally baffling is the clean escape of the the gunmen,
the attack spanned 25-30 mins , liberty police station is just a few hundred meters away from the attack site ,why was reinforcement not called! they (policemen) could have made it to the site on FOOT! within a 1 MIN, yes ! 1 MIN!
why was not the entire area sealed , given the fact that it was possible to do so………
such an attack could not have been carried out so easily ………….
this has to be a work of an internal state ogranization
have heard the new traffic wardens in lahore are so efficient that if one voilates a traffic rule ……..they chase the person until they catch him………they even follow the culprits to their home if they must….but they dont let anyone off……………
how can the gunmen just hit and run?

the SL team was promised the Head Of The State protocol/security…………….
if this is the Head Of The State protocol/security then some one please remind the gunmen that zardari is also the head of state with the same protocol/security as the SL team……….if we a to lose people why not start with the most harmfull ones? atleast the nation would celebrate losing zardari !
this level of breach is not possible! not unless an insider is involved

the terrorists were under action close to high rise buildings from where they can be hit and when they fled they took the direction towards liberty market.At this time market was closed and all parking areas were clear and without obstacles.Another thing you would hardly find any shop, a petrol pump and restaurants here without guards who always held repeaters in their hands.In 30 minutes action these guard could have targeted these guys easily but the way they vanished in posh locality of gulberg without public watch is very astonishing.This is one of shameful act in Lahore history that we sent our daring guests, injured and terrified from one of lively city of Pakistan.
if there is any accoutabilty, the heads must role. Rehman Malik and Governor Punjab should resign. It is a big security laps. No one got caught…. surprise surprise… it has a hall mark of a an inside botchup job…

You gave head of state type security to Sri Lanka team and see… your incompetent police could not catch even a single terrorist. Look at lawlessness in your country and ask an honest question, why should Pakistan not be declared a terrorist state..
It is very sad indeed and shameful as well. What does one do at a time like this? I don’t know, I am lost and would refrain from any speculations. I have my hunches though and I hope I am wrong. If the perpetrators wished to hurt our government by this , if there is a message in it for the governor of Punjab. Dear Akhtar Hussain, What is your definition of a terrorist state? My definitions is: Any state that harbours/supports terror acts within its own territory against its own people is a terrorist state. Any state that has its solders in another state, covert or otherwise is a terrorist state.

Most importantly these guys like FARID MASOOD claimed previously that Mumbai attacks was done by RAW. But Pakistani media houses like The DAWN , GEO TV etc. itself PROVED IT WRONG.
Curiously……many Paki columnist here in TPS claimed previously that MUMBAI ATTACKS were an ‘indide job’. They claimed that Mumbai attacks were done by RAW.

I fully agree to what you say, but what is the point that you are trying to make. Please dont try to link Kashmir with terrorism if you are pointing towards that. Kashmir has elected democratic govt. Army in Kashmir is there to protect innocent Kashmiris from terrorists. Any ordinary Kashmiri will endorse this. But Pakistan state has been supporting terrorism in India, Afghanistan.

I didn’t mention any country/location, that was deliberate on my part. to just state an opinion without going to specifics, a borderless value of peace and humanity, live and let live,and i see you jumping to defend what goes on in Kashmir. For me defence is the first act of war…. who did it… me… if i feel the need to defend/protect and justify anything. I started the war… I take it further, there is non state terrorism as well as state terrorism. In peace, where people have control over their destiny. it doesn’t require Armies for protection. May be on borders not in its territory.. Who is protecting who. There are ordinary kashmiris and extra ordinary kashmiris. So the ordinary kashmiris demand and need Indian Army to protect them from extra ordinaries. One group of people against the other. and one has the protection of Army…I see where this leads. I see your invitation to comment on India, Afghanistan, Kashmir, Pakistan. I agree with you, that Elements in PK state/non state may be supporting terrorism within its own territory and in India/Afghanistan. However I may add that India state/non state, also have been doing the same in PK/Kashmir/Afghanistan/Bangladesh/Sri Lanka/Nepal/Bhutan as well as in its own territory. It is an opinion, of course and I have never encountered any personal proof. I don’t see items in news or media as facts.

Familiarity breeds contempt but familiarity has a virtue, it makes you read unwritten text and make you see invisible obvious. I could see you making remarks in reference to Kashmir therefore my comments.We live with preceptions and it take lot of hard work to change preceptions. For example you never encounter any personal proof but see India sponsoring terrorism every where. Then we have some thing called evidence which brings out truth. I have heard your foriegn minister stating that Azhar Masood is not in Pakistan and your interior minister stating that he is under house arrest. Similarly some one in establishment says Kasab is not Pakistani and then you sack your NSA because he says Kasab is from Pak. Now this evidence of double speak that establishes beyond doubt the involvment of your govt in such crimes.

India dont want any foreign team to play in pakistan. Indian intelligence agency RAW(research and analysis wing) have numerous agents in pakistan, several thousand. India supplies money and weapons to insurgency in baluchistan. India has the money and weapons to carry out such attack.

India is spreading terrorism in South Asia. It has 17 consulates in Afghanistan whose sole purpose is to destabilize Pakistan. This attack is linked of the same chain. Since Indian intelligence backed LTTE is on the brink of defeat in Sri Lanka, India has tried to kill two birds with one stone. Hitting Sri Lanka hard and defame Pakistan. India is behind attacks on Sri Lankan cricket team. There is no doubt about it.

this attack on cricket players makes no sense to me; it seems like this would only harm the image of any organization who did it
