Spiralling Price Hike
By Dr. Hassan Isfahani • Jun 20th, 2008 • Category: Misc • 2 CommentsEvery stratum of the society is affected by the gruesome price hike of day to day commodities. For the common man in the society it has become nearly impossible to support a family. It has become extremely hard to fulfill the needs of children regarding their food, health, education and entertainment. Things have gone through the roof and beyond the reach of the common man.
The budget has been presented. It’s once again yet another game of numbers which is well beyond the comprehension of the common man of Pakistan. They are not interested in the numbers. What they look forward to is to have relief in their lives. The budget must provide respite to the downtrodden and less-privileged section of the society instead of making the rich, richer.
Even so far there is no check on the prices of the commodities. Governments, both at the federal and the provincial levels haven’t announced anything in the regard of price control. Prices of everything are increasing with each passing day, and in the same market, in two adjacent shops you would find the same commodity at different price. With each passing day and week, prices are increasing.
This is the one place where government could do a huge favor to the people.

How prices can remain constant when you are going through Pakistan history biggest Energy and Fuel crisis. Load shedding is basically increasing cost of production because Idle time of Machines results in high cost of production. Meanwhile global food crisis are tilting local market to increase food prices also. Water crisis in whole Pakistan are pressuring farmers to use Tube wells instead of canal water that resulting in high cost too. Middle man character is an other main reason that prices gets so much high. Government should take necessary actions to safe guard customers rights.
Good post.
