South Waziristan is Different from Swat

The success and experience gained by the Pakistani security forces in Malakand region will come handy in Waziristan, but the war will be tough, as the enemy is fully prepared, deep-rooted and has garnered the support from across the border in Afghanistan.
Afghan Taliban have first time publicly announced to support the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). It has been also leared that the recent flurry of suicide attacks and group attacks in Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Lahore and Bannu have been carried out by the joint venture of Afghan and Pakistan Taliban. The Afghan Taliban carry out the group attacks, whereas the Pakistani Taliban provide suicide bombers and intelligence.
The war in South Waziristan will be hard fought, because not only Afghan and Pakistani Taliban will resist and retaliate, but also the banned organizations of Pakistan like Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and others have already been found involved in attacks on security forces and a crackdown is underway against their activists. The reports are that many of these activists have already gone to South Waziristan.
The convergence of these extremists in South Waziristan will increase the number and power of Taliban, but even then their strength is not likely to go above 15000. They are equipped with modern weapons, but they don’t have aerial suport, and also they are not a match to the training and weapons of Pakistani security forces. But these are fanatics who are in their false notion are fighting for the glory of Islam. These fanatics have become terrorists against their own Muslim brethern, and now once again the history of Islam, muslims are going to fight each other.
But for the glory of Islam and the survival of Pakistan, these terrorists have to be defeated and eliminated.

I fully endorce the views expressed by mr, zaman, those who know the people living in this area, and the terrain of their abode can easily estimate the difficulties of pak forces,despite the air and latest weapons superiority, bigger is attacking force , higher is the number of casualties, guns are their toys from childhood, they will shoot only when they are sour to hit the target, missing a single shot
is a very rare mis, you can call them the best gurellas of the time who cannot be tamed, how ever it is always very easy to win them over by negotions through jirga, and some palm greasing.

Seeds of Pashtun nationalism are being sown today. It’ll be a bloody harvest as Punjab will realize when the time comes. Even if the army prevails over Taliban, the real defeat would be suffered by the Pashtun people. The Punjabi dominated army would become even more Punjabi centric and Pashtuns who represent the second largest community in the armed forces would see their numbers dwindle. Well! The next best thing ? Have your own army. That’ll be the day.
