Some Rational Decisions: Decree of the Nation
By Farid Masood • Mar 4th, 2008 • Category: Politics, Worth A Second Look • One ResponseBuds are apparent so the signs of new developments are prominent. Spring season has started and the ice age is completed its tenure. Time to open our eyes and face the reality. Time to recover the loss as a whole nation. We had sacrificed in 1947, we are and will be sacrificing till the judgment day for this God gifted country.
The time requires some rational decision may not be fit for others but nothing less than that is suitable for us. There are some decisions coming as we will see a change of face in the seat of governor for the Sindh Province in a day or two, but I am not talking about such decision.
The decision to reinstate judiciary at November 2, 2007 level is imperative, one has to take it for the betterment of the systems. No one is above the systems. Systems which ensure the integrity of the country and the nation.
Political parties must reconcile with the President Musharraf for the grate interest of the country. Ouster of the President is imperative, but the political parties must give him a honorable exit path. It is written on the wall that they will bring their own President before the completion of President Musharraf’s tenure may be by the end of 2008.
For the time being if the judiciary is reinstated it should put their revenge back and put in efforts for the betterment of the people of Pakistan. Its true that the candidacy of the President is in-valid, its true by force an Army Chief cannot launch war against the Present Chief Justice of Pakistan. But the time requires reconciliation at all levels.
The nation’s decree in shape of elections 2008 results is much mightier than any decree in last eight years. So the President must come up, be a great man and say it to the nation that ‘I was wrong, put on the wrong track by those from whom I was taking advice, I had made wrong decisions against the will of the nation’.
He also must say that ‘give me some time I will try to make it up with my personal efforts, I will leave my seat at the time at a suitable time in greater interest of the nation’.
The government must close its borders for human crossings, give three months to the Afghan refugees to go to their homes, ask the Afghan Government to fight their wars in their homeland, Ask US of A any missile crossing Pakistani Air would be replied with the same rebound, deploy only forces required to maintain law and order situation in western Pakistani borders areas and surplus army should return to barracks, sign an MOU with Afghan government that if any person crosses the border without the permission of Pakistan government must be dealt as per Afghan Laws and vice versa. Ask US of A that they should stop interfering in Pakistani National matters. Such and alike steps will increase the honor of the President in the view of the nation.

Sir, we can only wish. Realistically speaking US has very strong leverage which is difficult to escape. No political Govt. or any Govt. backed by army can dare to oust US from region. Ideally what you said, should happen, but unfortunately it wont. The new Government can only ’start’ taking some little steps in right direction. We should not expect more.
