Solution to Electric Power Shortage

By Farid Masood • Jul 30th, 2009 • Category: Politics • 7 Comments

Headache increased while hearing the media statements of our bellowed Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf there would be no load shedding after December 31, 2009. Not going into details that how may times his pert chart revised, the Prime Minister Mr Gilani told the media that this time plan is of Mr Raja Perviaz Ashraf and his government is not agreed to it.

These funny statements are adding red peppers to the wounds of the load shedding stricken sweating nation. The increased price of electric power and load-shedding is adding miseries to each and every field of life. Headache, normally affect thinking but this time it gave me a solution to reduce load shedding without adding a single kilowatt electricity.

One hour advancement of Pakistan Standard Time (PST) save 250 Megawatts (approx). Just to recall that PST is +5 Hours of Greenwich Meantime (GMT). Some writers expressed their views that if one hour can save 250 Megawatts then why not extend PST 10 hours straight away to overcome shortage of 2500 megawatts or so. But here is another solution.

If we create a difference of time between different cities of Pakistan then it would help to overcome electric power shortage. For example, while it is night as per PST in Murree, Quetta, Abbotabad, Fort Monro, Sawat and other hill station. While the standard time for the cities like Lahore, Multan, Hyderabad, Sahiwal, D.I. Khan etc must have 12 Hours difference with those hill stations. So there will be day in these cities and night in hill stations. We can disconnect power supply of cities at hill stations having less ambient temperature at nights where people can survive without fans and supply power to cities having day time.

Industries could be managed like that industry of an area may be supplied with electric power for 15 days continuously whilst same industry on other area may have shutdown in that period. And this cycle may continue vice versa.

People working on computers must be provided with a chargeable a battery pack with manual battery charging system with paddles. A computer user must first force the paddles like a cycle to generate electric power to store it in batteries then switch on computers to utilize it.

Cycle and Motor Cycle Carriers must be used to recharge UPS batteries of every house. If such and other options work we may opt for removal of Ministry of Water and Power Portfolio.

P.S. While writing this article I was having headache, apology if something went wrong.

  2. :D Please explain how there can be day in lahore and night in murree at the same time? You’re kidding right?

  3. Dear Ali

Thanks for your comments, if we can add one hour to PST we also can add 12 Hours in PST for city ‘A’ so when it will be noon in the city observing PST and it will be mid-night in city ‘A’. It does not have any relation with the sunlight. if Sun is right on your head and the watch show is 0300 Hrs what it means because we are following time not light. very simple isn’t it?

  4. Hmmm. Interesting.

  5. Hahaha

  6. Crazy idea… so it will be 2am in murree and sun is shining in flow glow :)

  7. it is not practical…and this looks more like a story..but i appreciate ur concern…u can do better :P
