Social Development Projects in Waziristan
By Anwar Jalal • Nov 17th, 2009 • Category: Politics • 5 CommentsDuring his recent visit (14 Nov) to South Waziristan Chief of Staff General Ashfaq Kayani has announced that social developmental projects be undertaken for the welfare of common people in the area under Army supervision. This is really a great news. It is well known that one of the main cause of Waziristan being abode of extremism is its backwardness. Though. from time to time, lot of funds are being allocated for FATA development but big chuck of it are mainly embezzled and go to the pockets of political administrative officials and tribal maliks. while the common tribal remain deprived from the funds allocated for their welfare and development.
General Ashfaq Kayani will do a great service if not only sufficient funds are allocated for the development of the area but the social and welfare projects are also embarked on under the austere supervision ,Apart from building of educational institutions ,hospitals, infrastructure for communication and transportation , different self employment schemes and programs can also be started in the area which will put the people of the area on the path of prosperity and they will be able to play a worthy role of the country. It is fairly hoped that the truly patriotic and well respected COAS general Ashfaq Kayani will execute his pledge .

The good things are never reflected in our media. It’s tragic to see how only the negativity is portrayed in media and news channels. Events such as this are taking place in Pakistan and it should be a positive point that should be shown to the entire nation.

Your nation was ruled by Army Generals all along and now COAS wants to be a rehabilitation professional. His job is to fight. It is the job of civilian experts to do rehabilitation etc. Will he also accept RESPONSIBILITY for failure? Will he ask for unlimited funds and blame Zardari if the budget of Pakistan doesnot allow?Will he recover the funds got by general Musharaff for exporting Alqueada?
when elements of terror are reduced in a country one the results of the success is this. Just like social developments are starting in wazirstan this a sine of success of Pakistan as are fighting extrmisn and want to finish it by the roots to give a better future to the next generation where there no terror.
