Sinister Situation in Swat
By Brig. (r) Junaid Zaman • Nov 9th, 2008 • Category: Politics • 4 CommentsWhile rest of the Pakistan remains detached, a mini-scale full blown war is being fought by security forces in the Swat area, which is a settled area of one of only four provinces of Pakistan.
Things suddenly turned hot when Talibans blew an armoured vehicle, PTDC Hotel at Malamjabba and Army rest House, while girls school at Golibagh and three bridges at Gora, Roniyal and Seej Banter were destroyed by detonating explosives. After that Army moved in, and server clashes started between Talibans and the security forces ,which are going on and on amidst the curfew clamped on the Matta area of Swat, by army. Gunship helicopters have been flown in the restive area, and up till now 5 security forces men and more than 30 Taliban have died in the clashes.
Why Talibans selected this moment to blow up the installations in the Swat area is perplexing. This has come when the Prime Minister of Pakistan Yousuf Raza Gilani is on his maiden visit to the Washington, and every dick and harry is trying to press upon him to start a killer operation in the restive areas “infested” with Talibans. This would not only give ammo to that hawkish lobby in the Washington to exert more pressure, while they have their hands “online” on our premier, it would also result in expansion of the war.
Already the Peshawar city has been sealed off and Fazlullah of Swat has threatened the government of the suicide attacks, and the man has warned the public “graciously” to keep away from the security forces for their own safety. Something very sinister is going on, and somebody has to see the whole thing from a distance with a cool and calculated mind and devise such a strategy which would have efficacy to resolve the matter with minimum damage.

Sir,
Pakistanies must WAKE UP. Killing of Pakistan army and FC personnel by anybody EVEN BY TALIBAN/ALQUEADA IN THE NAmE of Islam SHOULD BE resisted by PAKISTAN AS A NATION. These fellows are Desh drohies and just because they keep beards, hide their faces and preach islam BURN GIRL SCHOOLS, doesnot make them MULSIM UMMA.
Pakistani army has been deployed in swat for last 1and 1/2 year with full war equipments. No body is answering it that what is exact problem there and from where and how these men are getting supply for so long that they are not being controlled by our modern army.last week complete curfew was imposed on swat valley that indicated that our high skilled army is still unable to control the situation. No body is asking COAS that in two wars with India we had only 17 days but now our army is in action for more than 600 days. Each day of war takes the civilization back to one year so now swat is heading back to 600 years ago.A biggest tragedy in one of beautiful area of Pakistan.

One may call it a calculated risk or a foolish hush up of ISI that they intentionally let Tehrik e Taliban loose to breed and turn into monster; with the aim to use them and avail a good going inside Afghanistan; in case USA retreats empty handed (as expected) from this land. But History tell us that act of betrayal is seen ingrained in the areas… up the Khyber Pass. Lately CIA has been making her smart moves and took the Tehriki in their own fold.[1] ISI plan has miserably failed…compromised which we are paying in terms of colossal loss of civilian as well as military lives and destruction of land in military actions to retrieve back the lost grounds.
They say; Betrayal becomes the norm when we are addicted to outside approval; when we look to others, whether individuals or organizations, for our well-being.
Butt will these Tehriki stooges reared and pampered by Jammat e Islami and Fazlur of JUI always be forsaking the national interests for their own personal gains. They have received and are still receiving the hefty perks, weapons and surveillance n communication equipment from CIA to spread unrest and anarchy in the country?
Will such brazen betrayal become the norm in our society?
