Shoaib Akhtar : A Psycho
By The Pakistani Spectator • Sep 7th, 2007 • Category: Uncategorized • One ResponseThough Mohammad Asif has also got a questionable attitude, and has got a strong shade of arrogance and hollow pride, Shoaib Akhtar is the maddest dog, when it comes to the screwing the discipline and defaming the country at the most crucial moments.
Shoaib Akhtar is to be sent home from the Twenty20 World Cup for hitting Mohammad Asif, his Pakistan team-mate, with a cricket bat.
Geo News, claims the controversial 32-year-old clashed with his fellow fast bowler after a training session in Johannesburg on Thursday. The pair are said to have had a heated exchange during the practice session.
“During the initial inquiry [of the tour management] it came up that Akhtar not only hit Asif on the thigh with the bat, but he also used abusive language,” Shafqat Naghmi, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief excecutive, said.
Former Pakistan stars have backed the PCB’s stance on Shoaib, claiming he has let the country down. Waqar Younis said: “Harsh punishments have to be given to Shoaib. Anyone behaving like this should not be in the team. His act has brought shame to the team and the nation.”
Rameez Raja, now a cricket commentator, said: “Both the players are the temperamental type. But this behaviour is not acceptable. I don’t see him playing in the immediate future for Pakistan. I don’t think he will get much support from the fans as well - people seem to be tired of his tantrums.”

PJ Mir, a former Pakistan media manager, also believes the PCB have done the right thing. “The captain and coach should be responsible for maintaining discipline,” he said. “It is a good decision taken by the PCB. I think it will now be difficult for him to make a comeback.”
I think this man should be ousted from the team forever. I would suggest PCB that if they want to ruin ICL, just Shoaib Akhtar to them for free.
