Sarabjit Singh, Jamal Qureshi after Kashmir Singh, Faisal Mehmood

By Ali Yar Khan • Mar 19th, 2008 • Category: Misc, Worth A Second Look • One Response

Pakistan released Kashmir Singh of India with all the fanfare in the world, and then received the mutilated body of Faisal Mehmood from India. Then India released Jamal Qureshi and now Pakistan is about to hang Sarabjit Singh. The equation is pretty even at this stage, and apparently, equilibrium is set.

Pakistanis released an Indian spy, while Indians released the body of a suspected Pakistani spy. Indian released a Pakistani suspected of smuggling the fake Indian currency, while Pakistan is about to hang a convicted terrorist.

Now 48 known Pakistanis are still in Indian jails, who have been picked while they were there to meet and greet their relatives or to see the India-Pakistan cricket matches. The swapping of 48 detained Pakistan in India with Sarabjit Singh is not a bad idea.
