you have rightly pointed out that all is not well with in the high echelon of power set-up in the country. Relations were bound to be sour once the so-called puppet PM started to assert his authority a little bit. Seems he has not gone too far but this little assertiveness has bamboozled Zardari-the puppet master to an extent that he is considering alternate.

The alternate scenario doesn’t look cosy as it sounds by his rhetoric on the occasion of Benazir’s death anniversary which was broadcast live nationally and internationally. Zardari’s assertion that once he gets enough majority in the Senate, then he will bring about much needed constitutional amendment to reinforce the pivotal position of PM in Pakistani democracy. Once, this is achieved he is going to take over as the PM as some analysts have predicted.

Let us see, how his politicking turns-out to be in his benefit or is it going to create further instability, to pave the way for another decade of military rule in the country. Right now due to many national and international problems, the popular view in Pakistani society is to give him and his party some more time to bring about the necessary stability that Pakistan desperately desires.Once this honeymoon period is over and there are evident signs, than the very people will be in the forefront to demand his head. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
