Return of Heroes : Salute to IDPs

By Maria Sultan • Jul 13th, 2009 • Category: Politics, Worth A Second Look • 8 Comments

There are many ills and evils in our society. Our country is the most corrupt in the Asia just after Afghanistan, our lawless neighbor. It goes without saying that many of our leaders are corrupt and morally deficient. They cannot set an example because they themselves know no better. But when one sees the magnitude of sacrifice made by the people of Swat, it becomes hard to believe that its the same land of pure.

Government has at last set the date of 13th July for the return of IDPs in a phase-wise plan. As counter-terrorism operation  in Malakand Agency draws to an end, new challenges are appearing. One is of the terrorists who are running away from Swat and converging in the South Waziristan area, from where they are launching suicidal attacks in different parts of the country. The terrorists are stepping up their activity and demonstrating that they have the ability to strike at different places.

There are many good news. The successful operation in the Swat shows that terrorists are not superhuman and they just need hard, lethal and ferocious spanking. Pockets of terrorists remain in Swat, but they will be flushed out as the people move in. These people have suffered a lot. They have seen the worst of the times. Without shelter, food, medicine, education, peace and basic necessities of life, these displaced people know the most bitter facet of the life, and they know that this all happened to them because they let some terrorists hijack their lives. They are not going to let loose these terrorists this time, because they cannot, for the life of them, would want to once again get “internally displaced.”

Loose ends still dangling in Swat to be tied up by the people and by the security forces. It is unlikely that the threat of terrorism and insurgency in Malakand Agency will diminish in the short term and Swatis have to be mentally and otherwise prepared in dealing with it. Terrorists have tasted the power and they might try to get it once again. For this the people of that area and the military have to develop and sustain a strong will power to defeat a ruthless enemy that has nothing to lose.

Rebuilding Malakand Agency is critical and crucial. Though government has restored utilities in cities and major towns of Malakand, they need to shower the facilities throughout Malakand and make it a model region in the whole of country. This cannot be done by the Pakistani authorities alone. World has to come forward and help Pakistan. World must not sit comfortably on the edges and urge Pakistan to do more, because it cannot and if world really interested in fighting the terrorism then they must help Pakistan in introducing political, economic, administrative and informational strategies in the region.

  1. Let’s not forget the real heroes, the Officers and Jawans of the Brave Pakistan Army who did a great job eliminating terrorists from these regions.

Let’s not forget our brave martyred officers and jawans who sacrificed their lives for this great cause!

WE PAKISTANIS ARE PROUD OF OUR ARMY!
The Nation Salutes its brave sons, Officers and Jawans of Pak Army!

Let’s hope and pray that our brave army eliminates every single terrorist from other troubled regions too.

    LONG LIVE PAKISTAN!

  2. To attain the peace is not that easy as it is to maintain it.

Apart from providing the basic necessitates to these IDP, I guess careful vigilance is required to ensure peace, writ of the state and rule of law in the area.

  3. While joining the chorus, “World has to come forward and help Pakistan. World must not sit comfortably on the edges and urge Pakistan to do more, because it cannot and if world really interested in fighting the terrorism then they must help Pakistan in introducing political, economic, administrative and informational strategies in the region.”

One may add that it is our individual and collective responsibility to help the rehabilitation process for the IDPS(our Mothers, Fathers, Brothers, Sisters and children) and bring to bear upon our governmen to do and continue to lookafter them even after they are home. They must not abdicate the responsiblity to sustain the infrastructure restored by the Pak Army. They must use the resources generated from Pakistan or Global Community for the restoration of amenities, economy and social uplift of the returning communities in a responsible and transparent manner.

We can contribute to the revival of economy of the distressed areas by taking part and encouraging
our domesting tourism to Swat and Malakand.

The prestine beauty of the Mountains and Valleys of Swat and Malakand are Tafseer-e-Surah-e-Rehman.

Salute to Officers and Men of our Armed Forces for rising to and taking up the Security Threat to Pakistan. May Allah Bless Shaheed Officers and Jawans. Long Live Pakistan Long Live our Armed Forces.

IOnly if we understand and appreciate Pakistan is “Surah e Rehman ki Tafseer.”

    have you heard this joke
that man was jumped to top of cliff to save the life of drowning child in the lake .When he was brought out ,all standing behind him praised for his courage but he in anger asked the mob that who pushed him from the cliff to lake for saving this child as he wanted to ask that man that why he didnt jump and save this child by himself.
So these IDPs are like that man who was pushed to this war game by unseen hands(for you). Not once but twice and thrice and then are projected as symbols of bravery and courage.
Sorry for me I don’t agree here and they are poor victims of war and hidden hands of army had tried all brutal means to destroy their lives and culture. They should be protected and provided by all necessities of lives that are their ultimate right.

Did you hear the content of letter of Hassan in the movie of kite runner. He in his innocence way is just demanding the simple life style of his land which beauty was destroyed by poor management of managers like amir’s father from them.We had lost thousands of sincere hasans in these dirty war games and amir’ father and his father in law like people have taken no time to escape from this hell like situation to a safe heaven .Captain of ship should be last one to jump from sinking ship but in our sides generals /executives are first one to jump from sinking ships and captains and common people are enclosed in their vessel to be die like mice in this ship.

  5. runaway heroes ……………i could not find heroes among this absconded mob who still are unwilling to go back to their land but with money……………………may be some special sight is needed to see them under the term of hero…………..pathetic

  6. They are surely not heroes but victims of war .the war which has been planted there by your actual heroes for generating dollar funds in this most peaceful areas of Pakistan.

  7. If you blame Swat people for their inaction against Taliban then we, our government, and our army is equally guilty. But we, our government and army didn’t get displaced, and only Swat people.

  8. Maria Sultan, absolutely, guilt is ours! We failed collectively as a nation of Pakistanis, it’s us in the government as well as army. We are source of strength for these organs of our national body. It’s us who remained indifferent to wounds inflicted to us by these, Talibans, the enemies of our nation.
