The Lahore High Court Chief Justice on Wednesday directed Punjab Inspector General Police (IGP) Tariq Saleem Dogar to recover an abducted girl within ten days and produce her in court.  The CJ was hearing a suo motu notice taken on an application of one Irshad Bibi of Gujrat who complained about non-recovery of her 14-year-old daughter.
CJ Khawaja Sharif had sought personal appearance of the IGP as DPO Gujrat, who had been appearing in case, had gone on ex-Pakistan leave without informing the court.
On Wednesday, the IGP appeared and ensured the court of taking action against the DPO for ignoring court’s proceedings.  About the recovery of alleged abducted girl he said the police believed that the family of the girl had hid her somewhere and lodged fake FIR against rivals. At this CJ remarked that if the girl was in her family’s custody the police should trace her out.
The IGP sought one month time for the recovery of girl, however, the CJ directed him to complete the task within 10 days. The CJ also directed Irshad Bibi to cooperate with police in recovery of her daughter. The complainant had submitted that her daughter was abducted by accused on Oct 10, 2009 and a FIR under section 365-B PPC was registered at police station Kukrali, Gujrat.
She alleged that the accused being influential persons tried to get the case cancelled through a compromise under coercion. On Nov 28, 2009 on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha accused party subjected the applicant and her family to torture and a FIR under sections 354/452/148/149 PPC was registered at the same police station.
