Reactivation of Lawyer’s Movement
By Sameer Shaharyar • Sep 27th, 2008 • Category: Politics • 2 CommentsIftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry is the real pride for the nation as he is the scion of independence of judiciary in the country. The rulers are afraid that if they reinstated Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry he would not let them commit corruption, and he would not sit idle and take suo moto action against the high-handedness and blind powers of the rulers.
Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry is the real chief justice and no one is ready to accept Abdul Hameed Dogar as the Chief Justice of Pakistan. The divided opinion among lawyers due to the defection of some of the PPP lawyers and taking oath by some judges under cajoling by Farooq H. Naek has affected the lawyers’ campaign, but it hasn’t ended it and it’s the last hope for the nation.
Aitzaz Ahsan, Ali Ahmad Kurd, Munir A. Malik and others must decide a decisive course of action. The biggest choice lies with Aitzaz Ahsan. He either must leave the PPP and enter fully into the lawyers movement, or he should retreat. He has damaged the lawyers movement more than the Zardari and Musharraf by adopting a dual approach and his blunder at the long march has deflated the once very vibrant lawyer-cum-judges movement.
He owes a lot to the lawyers.

Sameer dead bodies are not reactivated, the word is resucitate. You just can’t help the dead horses they haven’t, yet, devised a method to resuscitate a dead horse. Tough!
CJP Iftikhar Chaudhry’s days were numbered when way back in December 2005; when he decide to take on the case/file of a missing person, Masood Janjua.
Keeping in mind, that it is the government behind these kidnappings, it was a very brave step; especially in a subservient and corrupt society as ours.
Nonetheless he started looking into it, at the discomfort of the government, the army and various agencies, involved.
He was just following his conscience, and laying for the first time in our troubled history the cornerstone of true judiciary,;no one is above the law.
The government managed to drag its feet in producing Masood Janjua, ( for the record he is still missing) ironically case# 965 Masood Janjua was to be heard by the Honourable CJP Iftikhar Chaudhry on 13th November ,2007 ( Mrs Amina Masood’s interview PK Politics); well we all know what transpired on 2nd November, 2007.
Now this could all be a coincidence that the dictators presidency , the case of the missing persons, were surfacing at the same time ; putting the dictator , the army , the agencies and people in power
very very uncomfortable and something had to done , and done permanently.
Sameer you are right; the man will not allow the army, the agencies and the politicians to ride above the law.On his watch there will be accountability.
Ps; You are also right about Aitzaz Ahsan.
