  1. Clearly you do not want Western input on this subject. Urdu is an unkown language in America. There can be no dialog without understanding.

  3. Don, Learn Urdu. As we have learned English to understand you.

  4. No need to learn Urdu.

Let the Pakistanis discuss Israel and Iran among themselves.

  5. Hi Mr.Naeem,
If isreal attacks Iran, why Pakistan should be bothered? You have enough problems of your own.
Is Iran or Saudi arabia sending ack acks to fight the american drones which are killing your people or they sending any warriors into Afghanistan?

  6. if Don Evans wants to give his input, the authoer should translate this article in english.

i think israel can only threaten iran….thoes guys over there only know one thing…..to kill unarmed palestenians….cant do that with iran because iran will retaliate !

  7. Don Evans,

While I was presenting program on news TV Channel-5 on same topic, I got two experts, both westerners, on line, for their comments. One was Sir Richard Dalton, (who recently wrote on the same topic in TIME and Daily Telegraph, London) who is former British ambassador in Iran and Libya and Professor John Harrison of S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Singapore. I was impressed by the balanced views expressed by Sir Dalton. Unfortunately there are many hawks in the US and Europe, like John Bolton, ex-US ambassador to UN, who plead Iran should be attacked.

I am sorry, my commitments for TV programs and two Urdu columns a week do not allow me to write in English. Anyways, thanks for your note here.

I wonder what went wrong to Johann. I remember he used to write sensible notes. If any Pakistani works in field of International affairs, may I ask whats wrong in it?

Dear, Lets get beyond the traditional acrimonious feelings between Pak and India.

Institute of Defence Studies and Analyses, an Indian think tank quoted/translated one of my previous column in which I mentioned the same attitude as was manifested by Johann.
    It can be seen at

Maria, Your suggestion is based on wishful thinking. :) (smiles)
Stronger civilizations leave their mark in the world. Pakistan and its language are far from that stage where the rest of the world may feel need to learn Urdu. However I can predict that in coming years, Chinese language will get much more significance and relevance.
