ISLAMABAD: The Army would respond, at its own time if so required, to the issue of the Official Secrets Act’s violation as demanded by President Pervez Musharraf.

The president in his encounter with his choice TV anchorpersons last Saturday found some of his ex-servicemen colleagues violating the Official Secrets Act and expected from Army Chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani to proceed against the violators.

ISPR Director-General Maj-Gen Athar Abbas when asked if the Army was contemplating action against any of the ex-servicemen as has been desired by the president, he said, “If required, the Army would give its response to the issue raised in the media.”

Meanwhile, a defence ministry source told this correspondent that the Army does not see any urgency to blindly follow what has been suggested by the president. “At some appropriate time, the Army may give its response to the president’s view,” the source said.

Musharraf was extremely perturbed over the recent charge-sheet issued against him on the Kargil issue by his former colleague Lt-Gen (retd) Jamshed Gulzar Kiyani, and had urged the Army chief to take note of the violations of the Official Secrets Act.

Kiyani had blamed Musharraf for the Kargil misadventure and revealed that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was kept in the dark on the issue. Kiyani had also attacked Musharraf on many other fronts, including the Lal Masjid operation.

Interestingly, while Musharraf expects from the Army chief to proceed against Gulzar Kiyani for what he sees as the revelation of official secrets on the issue of Kargil, his book “In the Line of Fire” talked at length not only about the Kargil issue but also disclosed many other secrets, including the handing over of a Pakistani national to the US authorities in return of dollars.

Presidential spokesman Maj-Gen (retd) Rashid Qureshi had said in a private television channel that Jamshed Gulzar was never a Kiyani before, hinting as if he has added this to his name to link himself to the incumbent Army chief. However, the fact remains that Jamshed Gulzar Kiyani has been recognised and written as Kiyani even when he was corps commander Rawalpindi.

In every organisation, there is ‘work politics’ and i am sure so is the case in the army…it doesn’t mean whatever he says is right and ready to be believed…just another of media hype!!

لیفٹیننٹ جنرل جمشید کیانی 1999 میں کارگل آپریشن کے دوران آئی ایس آئی کے اعلیٰ عہدیدار تھے۔ 12 اکتوبر 1999 کی کامیاب فوجی بغاوت کے فوراً بعد دسویں کور کے کمانڈر بنائے گئے۔ ریٹائرمنٹ کے بعد 2004 میں وفاقی پبلک سروس کمیشن کے سربراہ بنائے گئے۔ نومبر 2007 میں صدر پرویز مشرف نے عبوری آئینی حکم کے تحت آئین میں ترمیم کر کے فیڈرل پبلک سروس کمیشن کے سربراہ کی میعاد پانچ برس کے بجائے تین برس کر دی چنانچہ لیفٹیننٹ جنرل جمشید کیانی کو سبکدوش ہونا پڑا۔ لیفٹیننٹ جنرل جمشید گلزار کیانی راولپنڈی کے قریب ایک گاؤں سے تعلق رکھتے ہیں اور جنرل اشفاق پرویز کیانی کے رشتہ دار نہیں ہیں۔ تاہم فوج کی پیشہ وارانہ دنیا میں جالندھر گروپ کی طرح کیانی نیٹ ورک جیسی اصطلاحات عام استعمال کی جاتی ہیں۔

But with due sorry…truths are coming out one by one. We all want Kargil issue to be discussed and interrogate openly (Only Mushi is not in favor…agar insaan sacha ho to who kaheen per bhee interrogation k liya tayar hota hai…phir who Chohay ki tarah kion chupta phir raha hai)

We want open dicussion on A.Q.Khan issue…why Mushi tried to keep it press for 6 yrs (reason is only one…Army was directly involved in it during Zia Ul haq Time)…

Why Mushi not wanted to take 12 May 2007 case in Courts… (reason is clear…how criminal can afford it himself for trial)

Why Mushi not supported jamia Hifza open trial….

Why they kept 18 days Kurfew in G-6 Islamabad during severe bombing and killing of innocent girls in Jamia Hifza… and not allowed a single man to see their so called fair attack.

Why Mushi is not coming out of Army House… Ask him to come out and face us.

I think you takes Mushi words as GOD’s Words ( Naauz billah) becasue you never accepts truth, regardless of facts and figures but believes in Mushi words (real 3rd class man) even more blindly than Allah’s Words.
