Pre-Poll Deal: Is This A True Face of Democracy
By Farid Masood • May 3rd, 2008 • Category: Politics, Worth A Second Look • 24 CommentsPakistan Peoples Party returned to Pakistan via America, this fact is known to every Pakistani Voter. PPP was allowed to return to Pakistan due to reconciliation between Musharraf Regime and that Party.
The cases against Senator Asif Ali Zardari were wiped off and he is now an innocent citizen. His innocence reminds me of a film of Nanapatikar in which one character asked him as is he mad? He replied you could be mad, I do have certificate of mental health from the doctor.
I remained against the deeds of Pakistan Peoples Party but right after the death of Ms Bhutto, I like my countrymen have sympathies with that party. Till the eradication of cases I was glad that the real political force should be given a room to play, which is a basic right in political game. In return if Mr Zardari don’t act against the current regime it has reason, but not going in the direction what nation wants is just to turn down the nation’s mandate.
This is what Mr Zardari is going to do now. I am not much concerned what happens to this government, but defeat of twenty-two ministers of previous government in February elections have written something very seriously on the wall. One must have an eye to read it. Those ministers were from the party aided by the government. A Big ‘NO’ to that party means a lot to be understood.
All politicians of current ruling parties should take this as a last chance. Don’t try to become like PML(Q). One third time of first 100 days has already been lapsed and the government authorities cannot free themselves from the visits of GHQ, Naval Headquarters, Foreign Visits etc. They are unable to deliver anything to the nation in last one month.
Respecting nation’s will is much important, re-think before going against the nation.

are you guys a blogging service or a news site? Please clarify that because the way site is updated doesn’t look a blogging service. Cheap and fictitious articles by Amna, minute by minute update newspapers news in form of a “post”, several posts per day as if there is a competition between authors to earn some bucks at the end of the month by making more posts. For me it’s quite boring and due to all mentioned factors, I have quit visiting this website.
This is my own personal opinion and anyone is free to disagree with me.
Now your guns are towards People’s Party. This nation will never be happy with anybody. I am seeing this stupid game for last 40 years.
Ayub Kutta chor hey, Bhutto hindu hey. Zia Qadiani hey. Nawaz Sharif and BB corrupt hein. Musharraf American agent hey.
BB and Nawaz Sharif only hope for Pakistan and they must come back to Pakistan
And now PPP returned to Pakistan via America
And after some days PPP lost its credibility. High inflation, rupee devaluation, falling foreign exchange reserves surge in prices of petrol, gas etc. The PPP govt. is very incompetent
Demand for new election (Mid term polls….) etc. etc.
Ashamed on You Pakistanis.
One day whole nation will see Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and even Afghanistan will be far ahead in every respect compare to Pakistan.
“Stupid people of Pakistan are continuosly fighting among themselves for 120 years.”
BBC Report (2068)
I am totally agree with you, Adnan.
Respect comes from a unique composition of decency, integrity and character. If our politicians have this ,then I believe they will respect the nation’s expectations and vice versa. But if they don’t possess those attributes, then I am afraid there is no other way but to be in this state of confusion. But as the say ” let’s hope for the best”. But how long can we carry on hoping that these people will learn from their own mistakes of the past and bring a cohesive structure to the way the nation should be run instead of heresy, rumors, through Geo and ARY, back hands deals, attending to US invitations, and as you said visits to GHQ, Naval Headquarters and God knows what else!
Are we suffering from mass amnesia? If so then lets recall an incident from our not so distant past, it might, just might help us all.
”I was presiding over the bench hearing a contempt case against the prime minister (Nawaz Sharif). On his request, the bench granted one week’s adjournment during which petitions were filed in the registries of the Supreme Court alleging my appointment to be unconstitutional for the reason that I was not the senior-most judge when I was appointed CJP. I was fourth on the list. The judges who were superseded did not resign or step down as is done in the armed forces.” (Chief Justice Syed Sajjad Ali Shah – A defining moment for the judiciary)
”One evening before the passing of the order by the Quetta bench, Justice (r) Senator Mohammad Rafiq Tarar flew in a private plane of the chief minister along with others and had a meeting with two judges of the Supreme Court from Lahore. He did a faithful job of winning over the judges of the Supreme Court in favour of the prime minister. He was rewarded with the post of the president.” (Chief Justice Syed Sajjad Ali Shah – A defining moment for the judiciary)
”It is surprising that the Supreme Court judges did not raise any objection for nearly three and a half years while I was Chief Justice and suddenly realised that my appointment was unconstitutional because I was appointed out of turn.” (Chief Justice Syed Sajjad Ali Shah – A defining moment for the judiciary)
It is true to kill the rats we must not burn down the house. Agree. However, the house is infested and owners have to do something about - can one communicate with rats?
U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brandeis ( June 5, 1916 – Feb. 13, 1939), “Our government is the potent, the omnipresent teacher. For good or for ill, it teaches the whole people by its example. Crime is contagious. If the government becomes a lawbreaker, it breeds contempt for law.” –Justice Louis Brandeis, Olmstead v. United States, 1928 (dissenting opinion)
Aashique of Musharraf
thanks for telling us your age, as far as i know you are also a Pakistani.
come on the nation has the right to ask its leader about his all-doings. This is democracy. Why don’t a nation like Iranis are against their government or their President? Because their representatives speak & act at the will of the nation.
Yes, this is what democracy all about : Debate, Argue, and reach a decision with consensus. Majority prevails and minority respects (even if Nawaz Sharif with responsibility of Supreme Court November 1997 attack! is a part of the minority).
Following is from Chief Justice Syed Sajjad Ali Shah:
”I was presiding over the bench hearing a contempt case against the prime minister (Nawaz Sharif). On his request, the bench granted one week’s adjournment during which petitions were filed in the registries of the Supreme Court alleging my appointment to be unconstitutional for the reason that I was not the senior-most judge when I was appointed CJP. Adnan: Are you jealous of the site or what? More content means boring? I dont see any copied news. Yes there are views on the news. Remember its more of a political blog? Have you seen The Huffington Post?
Come out of your well
respect.s
TPS You are great. Keep up the good work, and don’t pay heed to such so-called blogging champs.
regards
The comment of Adnan is not even worth commenting,so I would request commentors to just ignore it. Let the steam of jealousy vanish in the air.
The house is infested and owners have to do something about it - can one communicate with rats?
Asim, “But as the say ” let’s hope for the best”. But how long can we carry on hoping that these people will learn from their own mistakes of the past and….”
No, no. Asim you can’t just keep on hoping. It is time that you organize and be prepared to do your homework which must be to keep on reminding them of their past mistakes, like keep on rubbing it in their faces and do it everyday. Just organize and let them know that we have learnt from your behaviour not to trust you any more. We consider you thieves and you must prove us wrong. That must be the way now. Remember like you said, “Let’s hope for the best” let me add “AND BE PREPARED FOR THE WORST” and if it’s less than the worst “LET THAT BE A PLEASANT SURPRISE” !
Aftab, First accept my apologies for getting rude with you last week.
I agree with you that we have to unite. Right now we are acting like a crowd and not as a nation. We as a people need to converge at one point and try to save the country. But I think for now we should use these parties as wheel of change. Use their platforms and select the least evil and try to be in unison from within.
respects.
Professor Khan, nice of you say what you said. Of course, there is no problem what so ever. I think the whole idea behind such discussions is to disagree, argue, debate, get angry, but still listen to what other has to say. It is my firm belief that most important element of democracy is conversation, learning and teaching.
Respects.

Dear we got to look in to our selves,
Sort out priorities and preferences.
Check liabilities, and essentialities.
Create cumulative directional move.
Manage situation on ground realities.
Behave realistically.
Do not react like fortune teller.
Do not say that if you can not curtail, at least condemn.
You have to be the change, if you want a change .regards
eheh why would I b jealous? i am just another commenter like you guys and while ghazala herself asked me to “criticize” about her site so I did. calm down and don’t make comments with fake aliases.
it’s sad to see that TPS zealots can’t tolerate criticism and difference of opinion even if it’s constructive and readers including a “PROFESSOR” started reacting immaturely. No where I ever claimed that I was a blogging champ neither I consider myself a blogger. If that was the case then I would have said YES to ghazala when she was interviewing “Bloggers” as I could earn “fame” from your site.
If you people can’t bear criticism then you should not expect something progressive. I am sorry if my simple questions and statement hurt anyone.
seems TPS commenters just read Huffington Post other than TPS .
