Polls Analysis: A Mighty Come Back of PPP & PML(N)
By Farid Masood • Feb 19th, 2008 • Category: Pakistan Vote'08, Politics, Worth A Second Look • 4 CommentsWell done Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Muslim League (N).
Results are still coming, PPP (headed by care-taker Chairperson Mr Asif Ali Zardari named after the brutal assassination of Ms Baynazir Bhutto) & PML(N) (headed by Shahbaz Sharif under supervision of Mr Nawaz Sharif) are leading from the front on the center and in Punjab Province. Punjab Province was being considered as the center force for PML(Q). PML(Q) eventually have been wiped off from the scene.
In North West Frontier Province ANP (lead by Asfand Yar Wali son of late Wali Khan) is leading and also PPP remaining seats are being claimed by Muthahida Majlis-e-Amal (there are two factions of Mma, one headed by Moulana Fazl-ur-Rehman the other one headed by Moulana Samee-ul-Haq), PML(N) and Independent Candidate.
In Sindh PPP and Mutahidah Qoumi Movement (headed by Mr Altaf Hussain) with some seats of PML(Q) and Independent candidates.
In Balouchistan Province due to boycott of All Parties Democratic Alliance (a combination of parties i.e. Pashton Khaw Milli Awami Party and other small parties) gave a chance to PML(Q) to have some lead in seats. PPP is trailing with a little less seats.
How formation of the governments may occur:
In Center there may a government by PPP with a support of PML(N), PML(N) may opt for sitting in the opposition eliminating any role of PML(Q). If PML(N) opts for opposition the PPP and MQM with independent candidates will form the government and PML(N) and ANP will form opposition. There is also a chance that PPP and PML(N) may join hands to lead in the center with the Prime Minister from PML(N) then MQM, Independents and MMA will form negligible opposition.
Politics in Pakistan, generally votes are polled to personalities rather than the parties due to influence of personalities in respective areas. But people have said no to the personalities support Pervaiz group (Pervaiz Musharaf and Pervaiz Elahi) and opted for democratic point of view.

Proud to be a Pakistani today, i think all the debris has fallen on PLMQ which they deserved and this also leaves a lesson for the coming parliament that never ever compromise on peoples rights in favour of a dictator, although i suspect Musharaf will stay in office for long.
Umer Altaf
your view point for Musharaf should be taken as correct. The better management is use the same person to take a required out put. even after all of fuss and wrong donings. This should be the beauty of our democracy.
BTW Musharaf had became fed up from the agendas of PML-Q, The change was inevitable
Farid Masood
There was no such agenda of PML Q which you are talking about this party was only individuals who didn’t cared about grass root politics thats why Chaudhary Shujaat and Sheikh Rasheed faced the most embarrassing defeat in his own constituency.
Umer Altaf
you are right, what i meant to say were the Personal Agendas of those gathered under the flag of Musharaf League
