Pir Pagara for PML-Q : Vultures Wait
By Ali Yar Khan • May 5th, 2008 • Category: Politics • One ResponsePir Sahab Pagaro, an aging political and religious figure who runs his own faction of Muslim League and who also runs a huge gang of dacoits in the interior Sindh has been called over to pull Musharraf at this troubled time, when PML-Q, the Musharraf Party, is disintegrating fast.
Pir Pagara is surprisingly the choice of everyone. From current President of PML-Q Chaudhary Shujaat to President Musharraf to Asif Ali Zardari to the majority of the PML-Q members. But the most surprising support Pir Pagara is getting right now is from the US envoy.
US Ambassador Anne W Patterson sees that this man from Sindh could be a balancing force for the Zardari regardless of the prospects of coalition forming between PML-Q and PPP. Everybody in Islamabad is sensing the drowning of PDA titanic over the judiciary issue, and in the new scheme of things, there is no place for Chaudharies of Gujrat as they are unacceptable to the Zardari.
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and ANP’s Asfund Yar Wali have also expressed their willingness to work with the Pir Pagara in the coalition government and they have also hinted that they feel more comfortable with him.
Vultures are now just waiting for the fallout of PDA coalition on or just after 12th May.
