People who change their Shaheed
By Mudassar Jawad • Oct 20th, 2009 • Category: Politics • 5 CommentsTime has changed in Pakistan; yesterday victims of suicide bombing were mentioned as “Jaan-ba-Haq” but today Pakistani media call them “Shaheed”.
Yesterday, a Pakistani soldier who died while fighting with Talibans was a “dead” to Pakistani media but today they mention him as “Shaheed”.
Yesterday, for Pakistani media and for so called leaders, Army was killing its own people in FATA but today they stand behind Army and praise its actions.
In 2003, same army launched a similar military operation in same Waziristan’s same capital city – Wana – against same Talibans to fight the same War on Terrorism, but then those who were killed (i.e. Talibans) by Pakistan Army were “Shaheed” for many. And our soldiers who lost their lives they were just “were killed” for us.
It’s funny to see that same so called political leaders and so called “vibrant” media is supporting Pakistani Army today who opposed similar military actions in past.
Who are these people who change “Shaheeds” with the time? Would they ever admit if they were wrong yesterday or they are wrong today?
I wonder if we had saved any lives, if we have had prevented any suicide bomber, if we have had not seen any incidents like GHQ if – AND ONLY IF – all these people had supported “Wana operation” in 2003 and made it a success.

suicidal bombers are also called shaheeds in their circle.
So dont satisfy your heart by using such soothing moral terms for these departed souls.Face the reality that our guardians are taking off from their families or left handicapped.
Leaving behind widow, small children or old parents.
We are tending towards extreme social dissatisfaction and alienation due to poor management along with this insecure war culture haunting at our doorsteps daily.
Yesterday I met a young lady doctor whose three family men father , husband and brother are in war state.Two were lost contact with her within last 24 hrs in war fronts.No way to tell her exact feelings but she wants her live relation back to her home as she doesn’t want to live alone with young kids in this insecure world without her legal relations.
Saying that you are shaeed ’s widow or mother might be momentarily honor for one lady but in our culture living alone with young sibling is one of bitter experiences, those are now being written on the fate of many women .This war is not between attackers and defenders but due to extreme mismanagement our trained people Vs misguided and group have come against each other.

The post is not about who is shaheed and who is not. Neither its about who is right and who is wrong; Alot has been said and being said about the history of Talibans and about the war we are in, and many will keep writing on issues you mentioned for long time.
The same unity that our politicians (mostly if not all) and the media is bringing in Pakistani nation today to fight agains this terrorism, if they had done it in 2003 then probably we have had saved many lives - may be of the relatives of the lady you met.
Its not about what is happening, its about how long we take to unite on one issue.
Before we did know who was right and who was wrong. Media and people is another thing, Even the Army did now know that either the culprits are the so called Taliban or not. Majorly, people previously thought that it was AMERICAS war he started and they were not TOTALLY wrong( Wrong tho), but know neither the people and nor the Media things like that. The Events, the scenario has convinced the People, Media and Army that who the forces behind this menace are and therefore the SHAHEEDS, who were previously called JAN BAHAQ are called with their real Name,’ Shaheed’. And to be honest many of us hesitated in calling our soldiers who lost their lives as ‘Shaheeds’, previously. It is Fortunate that Now we know how many Sacrifices our Warriors and Our People have given .

I wonder where are the supporters of Terrorists of Lal Mosque now. They should die in shame; the best time to die including many tv anchors, bloggers and politicians.
Those are the people who encouraged terrorists and now whole nation is suffering
@Ali..lets just pray that this would be the begining of the end of these terrorists who kill innocent people everyday.
@AOM… Supporters of these terrorists are just mum at the moment and waiting for something to happen on what they would do their politics.
